Their story starts the summer beforeFuck it Upand ends afterScrew it Up. You’ll see plenty of glimpses of familiar characters you’ve already read about in this series.

Note that while Markus is a Heritage legacy, he is inherently amonogamist, soUnnecessary Evilsisn’t a swinger series. That said, he doesn’t actually know he’s not into sharing at the start of the story ??

I am not done with swingers. The next story after Unnecessary Evils (Willow and Dimitri) will get back to that.

Not everything I write will have the same themes, but you’ll be updated about content information in the trigger list at the start. But what you can always expect under Emm Darcy is high heat, high conflict, and characters who really should go see their shrinks more often ??

BONUS SCENE

ADRIAN

Among the long list of women attempting to murder me, Antonella Rossi might very well be the one who manages it.

I cut two important meetings short, cancel the rest of my day, and make it to the hospital seven minutes after her. She’s already been led into a room, and her nurses knows better than to attempt to keep me out of it.

I am the reason she was admitted the moment she showed up, ahead of a man with half a bottle of glass in his thigh and a woman who’d just survived a car crash—after swerving too sharply when a van blew up just south of Thorn Falls.

If I get a migraine today, she will pay for it.

My jaw clenched, I approach, hands locked behind my back.

Toni sighs. “What areyoudoing here?”

“You’re abodyguard,” I say, with obvious distaste. “Since when?”

“How is that any of your business?”

I wait, staring down at her.

“If you plan to use that body of yours for the benefit of others, you are no doubt aware that I will give you the best rate, Antonella.”

“Toni,” she reminds me. “And I’ll pass, thank you.”

“You’re not keeping the job.” My tone is final, because the matter is closed.

“That’s not your choice to make.”

“I can ruin your reputation and feed the company that employed you the kind of information that will make them immediately fire you, or you can resign.”

I don’t know why she looks surprised. She knew I wouldn’t have allowed this farce, or she would have told me about it.

“This—this is what I can do, okay? I don’t have the brains for a career behind a desk, but I can fight.”

I am aware. She proved it the very day I met her, almost three years ago. That doesn’t change the fact that she’s not putting her life at risk for others.

“I gave you my terms. They’re not negotiable.”

I know she can fight. And I would have much preferred it if she did right now, but instead, she looks sad. Helpless.

I sigh, suddenly extremely tired. Why is she so damn young?

I sit on the chair as her doctor works his needle through her wound, pretending he’s not hearing every word we’re exchange.

“You were shot and need stitches. You understand why this is not something I can condone,Toni.” I say her name as a peace offering. I’m not budging. That doesn’t mean I have to be unkind.

I respect her for doing this.

But she got shot.
