“You mean Mr. McCallum?”

I nod my head. “Is that his name?” He nods and I smirk. Now I’ve got my starting point.

It won’t take me long to figure out exactly what I’m doing because I don’t think she’s going anywhere anytime soon.

I’ll figure out how to do it. I will have that woman. She’s mine. Not his…mine. And he will pay for thinking that he can keep her away from me.

I storm out of the restaurant, no longer concerned with meeting with my attorneys. I’ll get with them eventually.

Right now, I’ve got a coup to plan.

CHAPTER2

Bonnie

Ican’t stop thinking about the dark, hulking man staring at me at the restaurant.

I sigh and shove back from my desk. Of course, I have a lot of time to fixate on things like the steamy look in his dark as night gaze. Because I’m locked in this damn room yet again. I have spent my whole life with my father being locked in my rooms at night. I didn’t get bed time stories after my mother died. I got a nanny who was more like a jailer. She’d make sure I was fed and bathed and then on my father’s orders, lock me alone in my bedroom.

For a gentle child, afraid of the dark and mourning her mother, it was too much. I spent many a night wrapped up in my blanket cowering and crying myself to sleep.

The cameras always revealed my secret shame until I stopped cowering in fear and wishing for things that were never going to happen.

My mother was never coming back. My father was never going to care about me.

Or at least he didn’t until one of the people paid to watch me happened to mention to my father how good I was with numbers. All of a sudden, I was with him every time he had a business meeting. I was useful. I had a purpose. Make sure that my father’s businesses stay successful.

Business is kind of a misnomer. My dad is in the mafia. He runs the local branch of the Heritage Mafia. He’s a bad man. A horrible man. And I’ve been a prisoner my entire life.

I know part of the reason for that is my father’s anger. He loved my mother. She was the only thing that could ever make him smile, laugh. She was his life.

And I killed her. Or rather that’s what he thinks. I know she died in childbirth. I was that child. Their only child.

But he was wracked with grief and instead of taking comfort in having a piece of her to raise, he took it the opposite direction.

My father hates me. Oh, I’m useful. And he uses me. But as to my comfort and care…he could give a damn. I will never be able to make up for her loss no matter what I do.

I sit down on the bed and pull up my computer. I managed to get away from my guards when I went to the bathroom and asked about the dark man with the dangerously deadly smile and the amber gaze.

One of the waitresses that I asked in the shadows smiled at me. “Oh that’s Mr. Marshall. She chuckled. “His nickname fits him perfectly.”

Tipping my head, I smile. “What is it?”

“Beastly.”

“His name is Beastly?” I ask, shocked.

“”His nickname is Beastly. And he lives up to it. The man is cold as ice and hasn’t got a heart that I know of. He’s a workaholic who doesn’t do anything for anyone without an agenda.”

He wanted to meet me. Why? I’m nobody. Now if it was my father? I could see that.

But me? I’m insignificant.

I tap in his last name and watch all the articles pop up with his business achievements and yes….his nickname in business.

“Beastly takes another business down taking no prisoners in his quest to take over the whole Eastern European sector.”

“The man eats, breathes and sleeps business. He has no time for anything that isn’t related to his business. There is no significant other. No happy home to come back to before he goes to bed for the night. He is a lone animal in the boardrooms of business, prowling and preying on his weaker competitors.”
