Nash flushed. Damn, those words, that tone. “Okay.” He just didn’t know what else to say.

A quick knock at the door and Nash dropped Lincoln’s hand as a nurse bustled in. They were probably already the talk to the hospital since both Adam and Lucas had been caught kissing him or holding his hand. He didn’t need the nurses to think Lincoln was part of their relationship too.

“I have your discharge paperwork!” The friendly nurse waved a packet of papers.

“Adam, why don’t you help Nash get dressed while I go over the discharge instructions with the nurse?”

“Sure.” Adam urged Caden from his lap before he rose.

The nurse’s eyes widened at seeing where Caden had been sitting. Jeez, it didn’t matter what Nash did. The rumors were going to be running rampant in town. Not that Nash expected to get too much grief. Everyone loved the boys that ran the coffee shop.

Adam grabbed the bag that Lincoln had packed from by the door before he approached.

“I put some shorts and a long-sleeve T-shirt on top for him,” Lincoln said. “I figured shorts would be easiest with his cast even though it’s cold outside.”

“Probably best,” Adam agreed. “We’ll get him warmed up soon enough.” He grinned at Nash and that naughty little twinkle in his eyes was going to be Nash’s undoing.

“Want me to pull your truck around?” Lincoln asked Lucas.

As the two Daddies talked and made all the decisions, Nash pushed his blankets off his lap. Caden came around the bed to help Adam and Nash was grateful for the extra hands. He hadn’t lied when he’d said that he’d broken his leg before. Somehow, maybe due to age, or his sore ribs, this injury hurt more than Nash could ever remember.

Adam and Caden helped slide the shorts up his legs. Nash eased off the bed as Adam pulled the shorts up and under the hospital gown. Next, Adam and Caden carefully pushed the gown from his arms but Lincoln was beginning to shake and sweat.

He was trying to hide how much pain he was in, but Nash was certain he wasn’t doing too good a job when Lucas appeared in front of him.

“Breathe, Nash. It’s okay, boy.” Lucas took the shirt from Adam and it went around his neck before Nash had to lift his arms.

Ow, fuck! He whimpered as he lifted his left arm. The ribs on that side of his body ached and throbbed.

Nash blinked back tears but finally Lucas was guiding his arms back to his sides.

“Good boy. You did so good.” Lucas kissed the couple of tears that had fallen.

“Hurts,” Nash whispered. He was trying not to be too much trouble, but this was awful.

“I know.” Lucas urged him back to the side of the bed as Adam knelt to slip on his shoes.

After he was finally dressed Nash just wanted to sink back on the mattress and take a nap.

“We’ll be home soon and get you all comfortable again,” Lucas told him.

Nash hoped that didn’t mean changing clothes again because he wasn’t sure that he’d be able to handle that.

The wheelchair in front of the door should have had Nash arguing but he just didn’t have it in him. He allowed Lucas to help him over before he sank gratefully down. Adam had his bag slung over his shoulder with a couple vases of flowers in his hands. Caden was carrying the other vases and balloons that had arrived. Nash would have to thank everyone who sent stuff later. He didn’t want to forget that. His mama had taught him manners, after all.

Lucas pushed the wheelchair as the nurse with them followed along.

With his head tilted back and his eyes closed, Nash allowed the others to get him where he needed to be. The ache in his ribs hadn’t gone away and now his head hurt as well.

Fingers dug into his scalp, and he sighed as the massage started. He didn’t give a damn who was touching them as long as they never stopped. Nash was miserable and even though he wanted to be strong for his men, there was nothing he wanted more than to just sleep.

He was rolled into the elevator and Nash opened his eyes.

Adam smiled gently at him as he continued to massage Nash’s head. Lucas spoke quietly to the nurse as they discussed his pain. Caden shuffled from foot to foot while his arms were still full of flowers and balloons, but Nash was grateful for him too. It was nice to know that he wasn’t alone.

Maybe there was something about all this Daddy talk. Not that Nash was looking for Lucas to be his Daddy, but he couldn’t complain about not having to make all the decisions when he felt like shit. It was nice having someone else to handle the big stuff.

They reached the ground floor, and he was wheeled out of the elevator toward the front doors.
