Lucas’s massive truck was idling up front and Lincoln jumped from behind the wheel and hurried over. Once again it took too much movement for Nash to get into the backseat. He was breathing hard and was just at the edge of nauseousness. Adam climbed into the seat beside him. Without waiting for an invitation, Nash laid his head in Adam’s lap. Adam’s fingers returned to Nash’s scalp as he closed his eyes again.

“We’ll stop by the pharmacy and pick up Nash’s mediations,” Lincoln said. He must have been talking to Lucas since Nash wasn’t paying attention. “The L.T. and Sam will meet you at your place. Sam has Adam’s bag packed and the lieutenant wants to check on Nash.”

Too many people but Nash knew that everyone was worried about him.

He just wanted some peace and quiet and not to throw up on Adam’s lap.

The doors closed and he flinched.

“How’re you feeling, boy?”

Nash grunted.

“Are we sure that he should be out of the hospital?” Adam questioned. “He doesn’t look too good.”

“We’ll keep an eye on him,” Lucas promised.

He must have drifted off during the drive. The warmth of the truck, being close to Adam, and the pain had lulled him into a light doze until the back door opened and a cold breeze swept over him, causing him to shiver hard, which hurt his ribs.

“I know, boy. Here, I have a blanket for you,” Lucas said right before a soft cloth was placed over him.

Nash tried to snuggle into the blanket, but he was being pulled upright.

“No!” he whined. Okay, not whined. Complained. Yeah, he wasn’t whining.

“Let me help you,” Lucas said.

It was probably a good thing that Lucas was so big since Nash didn’t offer much help in climbing out of the truck or through a door he’d never seen before. They entered what looked like a small break room before Nash was ushered to some stairs.

With the blanket still around his shoulders and Lucas’s arm firmly around his waist, Nash concentrated on one foot in front of the other as he really hoped he didn’t puke.

After what felt like hours, they reached the top of the stairs to another door.

“Here’s the keys, baby. Will you unlock the door?” Lucas held out a set of keys to Adam.

Adam squeezed by Nash before he unlocked and opened the door.

“Let’s get you into bed,” Lucas whispered quietly.

“Grand idea,” Nash mumbled miserably. He never wanted to leave his bed again. And there was nothing sexy he was thinking about doing in that bed. He might even cry. Crying wasn’t sexy.

He shuffled inside with Lucas still mostly holding him up.

The door opened to a spacious living room done up in white and gray. The couch was white, the rug, even the coffee table. The gray tiles and light gray walls made the space appear soothing. There were little splashes of color around the room, including a bright art piece above the couch. If he was feeling better, Nash might be concerned about all the white and making a mess, but instead he let Lucas lead him across the room toward a closed door.

“This room has a bathroom attached so I thought this would make it easier for you to get around in,” Lucas told him.

By this time, Nash had spotted the king size bed and wanted to be in that bed more than anything. He didn’t care about bathrooms or anything else.

“I’ll pull the comforter down.” Adam rushed around him and did just that.

With Lucas’s help, Nash was able to climb onto the mattress before curling up on his good side. He wrapped his arm around his side. He hoped that the other two would ignore the tears that might have fallen down his cheeks.

“Shh.” Lucas brushed the hair from his face. “It’s okay.”

He sniffled but didn’t respond.

“Do you need anything Nash?” Adam asked.
