Nash shook his head as he did his best not to start sobbing. He hurt. Everywhere. And he didn’t want Lucas or Adam to see him being a baby.

“Why don’t you get him a bottle of water from the fridge, baby? He’ll need it when Lincoln gets here with his meds.”

“Sure.”

He heard Adam leave, since his eyes were closed. Lucas was still standing close to the bed though. Nash didn’t need to open his eyes as Lucas’s presence was unmistakable.

“You stop that right now,” Lucas said.

“Huh?” Nash mumbled. He wasn’t doing anything, was he?

“Stop trying to hide your pain,” Lucas ordered. “We know it hurts. It’s okay to show that.”

“I’m fine,” Nash whispered.

“Nash, you are hurt and there is no shame in sharing that with us. If it hurts, let us know. We care about you and we’re here for whatever you need.”

He blinked and opened his eyes to see that Lucas had knelt next to the bed.

“You’re not weak,” Lucas told him.

“I don’t want you to think…”

“We think you’re a badass who was doing your job and got hurt.” Lucas placed a kiss on the tip of his nose, and it was the sweetest gesture that Nash had ever experienced. His eyes watered again.

“Thank you, Lucas,” Nash said. “For this. For all of this.” He didn’t know what he would have done if he’d insisted on going home alone. Not that he expected Lincoln would have let him, but even though he felt like shit, Nash was where he wanted to be.

“You don’t have to thank me.” Lucas kissed his nose again. “But I do like that my boy is showing his manners.”

Nash laughed then groaned. Fuck! That hurt. “Don’t make me laugh!”

“Sorry, boy.” Lucas shifted back as Adam rejoined them. Adam set the water bottle on the table next to the bed before he bent down.

“You look better. Not like your about to keel over.”

“I’d look better with you in my arms,” Nash responded. Because really, when did he not tease Adam? He loved when Adam blushed.

“Let’s get you feeling better before we put anything in your arms,” Lucas warned.

He gave a long-suffering sigh just to be a brat. Nash couldn’t wait until he felt better so he could try to talk Adam and Lucas into that big bed with him.

Chapter Seven

Adam

Adam shook his head as he pulled more of his stuff from the bags that Sam had packed. Bags as in plural. While Adam had requested his friend grab him a few changes of clothes, that was not what Sam had done. It appeared that most of his room had been packed up and taken over to Lucas’s.

He didn’t need half of his stuff! Really, he should have known better. If he’d asked Caden, then Adam would have gotten exactly what he asked for. Sam, on the other hand, had ideas of what Adam should be using his time alone with Lucas and Nash for. Even though Nash was hurt, Sam thought that Adam should sex him up.

What Adam planned on doing was ignoring Sam’s suggestion. He was grateful that his blankie had been placed in one of the bags even as Adam ignored the toys and his little stuff that had been packed with his blankie. He stuffed his blankie inside the pillowcase, his go-to hiding spot. It wasn’t really weird for someone to take a pillow with them into the living room to watch TV or even on car rides. With a slip of his hand into the pillowcase, Adam would be able to touch his blankie whenever he wanted.

A knock on the door had Adam flinging his pillow back to the head of the bed. “Come in.”

The door opened and Lucas stuck his head in. “How’s it going in here?”

Adam groaned. “Don’t ever let Sam pack for you!”

Chuckling, Lucas pushed the door the rest of the way open and stepped inside. His eyes went to the many bags on the bed and widened.
