Storm cringed and shook her head.

“Sorry. I’m fine, I guess,” she whispered.

Tonight, Storm was planning to tell Hedda about the threatening messages and the feeling of having someone watching her, she just didn’t want it to be over the phone.

“Storm,” Hedda said. “You can tell me whatever you’re thinking. I’m not going to think you’re weird or crazy. If anything, I’m the weird and crazy one between us.”

“I know,” she softly replied. “I just, okay.”

“Okay, what?”

“I need to talk to you about something tonight, or well, I need to tell you about some things.”

Storm took a couple of deep breaths.

“Storm, you’re making me think some pretty bad things right now. Can you give me a hint or something so I’m not worried about you?” Hedda asked.

Storm bit her lip. What she was about to tell Hedda wasn’t going to make her stop worrying. If anything, it was going to make her worry even more.

“I think I’m being followed,” she whispered. “I keep having a feeling like someone is watching me twenty-four seven.”

Tears sprang to her eyes as she voiced it for the first time.

“Can you say that again? I don’t think I heard you right,” Hedda said.

Storm took a deep breath. “I think I’m being followed. For the past several days, I’ve felt like someone is watching me anytime I go outside my apartment.”

“Shit.”

That response didn’t make Storm feel any better.

“We’re still going to meet up tonight. Pack a bag with some extra clothes because you’re going to stay with me for the next couple of days,” Hedda said.

“O-Okay,” Storm replied.

She grabbed a small bag from under her bed and placed it on her bed.

“W-Will you stay with me on the phone until I get in my car?” Storm asked.

“Yeah, I can,” she replied.

Relief flooded Storm’s body when she agreed. She felt better that Hedda was going to be on the phone with her while she grabbed everything. If something happened, she could call someone fast.

“How long has this been going on?” Hedda asked. “Sorry, I’m just trying to make conversation as you pack the things you need.”

“Which one?”

Storm winced when she said that. Hedda didn’t know about the messages yet.

“Sorry, everything has made my brain go into paranoia and I’m not thinking straight,” Storm quickly said. “It’s been a while. After we hung out when I got better from being sick, maybe? The following day, I started to feel like someone was watching me everywhere I went.”

She didn’t know if she should mention her boss had someone ask about her at work. Was it the right time or should she wait until they were in person? Storm didn’t want to say anything over the phone and make Hedda panic and do something irrational.

Storm had no clue how Hedda would act in a situation like this and didn’t want to find out over the phone. What if she acted irrational and did something she would regret later or would get her in trouble with the law?

“Why didn’t you tell me before?” Hedda asked.

She started to place some clothes and toiletries into her bag.
