“You need to calm down,” Miles said, bringing her out of her thoughts.

She hadn’t realized there was a loud and fast beeping in the room. What could that possibly be? Was that her heart beating?

“Just take a couple deep breaths. The nurse should almost be here,” Miles said. “You don’t want to get yourself worked up and tear the stitches.”

Tears formed in her eyes with all the thoughts she’d just had, but also because of the pain she was in. Everything hurt.

“Hello,” the nurse said, walking in. “I don’t know if you remember me, but I’m Anita. I heard you were in some pain?”

“Yes,” Storm whispered.

“She’s in a lot of pain. Isn’t she due for some pain medicine soon?” Miles asked.

“Yes. She should’ve gotten some about thirty minutes ago, but Lino just came in with a severe cut on his arm that wouldn’t stop bleeding, so all hands were on deck to help stop it and get it stitched up,” Anita said.

The thought of Lino, whoever he was, bleeding was making Storm nauseous. She could remember the smell of blood from Miles when he first came in. How it smelled so bad.

“Well, give her the pain medicine already. I don’t want her to be in pain any longer,” Miles barked out.

Storm looked at Anita and gave her a strained smile. She felt bad that she had to deal with Miles right now, or ever. He could be rude and inconsiderate. Well, Storm thought so, but she had only seen that side of him a couple times.

“Right,” Anita said. “I'll just change the pain medicine and get it all set up again.”

They sat in silence for a while as Anita did what she said. Storm wished she would stay in here until Hedda came back, but she knew that wasn’t possible.

“All done!” Anita said as she looked at her. “Do you need anything else?”

Storm wanted to tell her to get Miles to leave, beg her to make him leave, but she knew that wouldn’t do anything. He wouldn’t pay attention to Anita and Anita wouldn’t be able to force him to do anything.

“Where am I?” Storm asked.

“You’re in the Ricci Crime Family compound,” Anita said. “Can I do anything else for you?”

Storm shook her head. There was no way she was going to escape this compound. They probably had it heavily guarded. She was hurt and wouldn’t be able to run even if she could get away.

Not that she would be able to outrun anyone. She was slow when it came to running.

“The medicine should start to work in the next couple of minutes,” Anita said. “If you need anything, just press the button over there and one of us will come when we can.”

It was silent when Anita left the room. Storm didn’t want to talk to Miles.

“How are you feeling?” he finally asked. “I know you’re in pain, but hopefully it’ll be gone soon.”

Storm turned her head to face away from him. She didn’t want to talk to him. She didn’t want anything to do with him. He was forcing her to move in with him when she got better, and she knew she wouldn’t be able to get away.

He was so much stronger than her, even if she was fully healed. She didn’t even know if she would be able to walk since she had stitches in her side and her stomach.

Everything was starting to overwhelm her and she just wanted to be alone. When she’d woken up, she hadn’t had time to breathe and think everything through. Rogan had been there with the doctor and Hedda, threatening her.

Then Miles had come in, saying she was his and she wasn’t going to leave his sight. He then threatened to punish her when she didn’t do something he wanted.

Even when he’d left to take a shower, Rogan was still in the room and had told her she wasn’t going to get another opportunity like this.

What was she going to do?

Storm needed to have time to process everything, but it was hard when Miles or Rogan were in the room. They had this presence about them that made her unable to think clearly. Maybe part of her was worried they would do something while she was thinking and she wouldn’t know until it was too late.

“Storm.” Miles said her name as he put his hand on her shoulder.
