She flinched, not expecting him to touch her. Tears of frustration filled her eyes. She just wanted to be left alone.

“What’s wrong?” he asked in a soft voice.

She hadn’t heard his soft voice since he’d come to her apartment when she was sick. Her heart ached at that thought. That moment had been so nice and she wished she could go back and relive that first day over and over. She didn’t want to relive him rejecting her, but everything before was just amazing.

“Please tell me,” he whispered. “I want to help you.”

She scoffed at that. Help her? He didn’t want to help her.

“What’s the scoff for? You don’t think I want to help you? I do,” he replied.

“I don’t want you near me,” she whispered, her voice breaking.

Storm was so exhausted, and having to put up with him right now was making her even more tired. She just wanted to sleep and get better. She didn’t want to have to fight him on everything.

Giving in was an option, but then she would be miserable. Although, she was already miserable.

“You don’t have a choice right now and you can’t do anything about it,” he said. “I know that sounds harsh, but it’s for your own good.”

Her own good? How was it for her own good? It seemed like it benefited him more than it did her.

“You may not see it now, but you’ll see it later,” he said, his hand still on her shoulder.

She wanted to shrug it off, but she didn’t want to hurt herself more.

“I’ve felt attracted to you since I first laid eyes on you at my birthday party,” he said. “It was instant. You running into me as you walked out of the bathroom wasn’t an accident. I put myself there so I could see you up close and meet you.”

She didn’t know what to think about that. It made her happy to hear those words but at the same time she felt angry. Why had he told her he didn’t want anything to do with her when she was sick? Why had he been so cruel when he felt the connection?

“I wanted to keep you safe and thought the best way to do that was by keeping you away from me. I didn’t think anyone was going to go after you,” he said. “But I am attracted to you. I feel the connection we have and I know you feel it, too. You feel comfortable around me, maybe even safe.”

“No,” she whispered, but it was a lie.

She couldn’t deny that even now she felt safe with him in the room. She wanted so badly to not feel that way about him, but she couldn’t do anything about it. Her body was at war with her mind right now.

Storm needed to get a grip because once they were at his house, there wasn’t going to be anything stopping him from charming her. Her body was already betraying her and she knew if it continued, her mind would start to agree with her body.

“Don’t deny it,” he said. “I know you feel the connection between us.”

“No,” she replied.

They both knew she was lying. She just wanted to put up the front that she wasn’t attracted to him, that she didn’t feel the connection he was talking about.

“You know Daddy hates it when you lie,” he said. “Lying to Daddy gets you in trouble.”

Storm didn’t respond. She loved to hear him call himself Daddy. She longed to call him Daddy.

“You don’t want Daddy to punish you, do you?” he asked.

She still didn’t respond. Closing her eyes, she tried to will her body to go to sleep, but it wouldn’t.

“Hello!! Did you miss me?” Hedda said as she entered the room.

CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

STORM

Storm relaxed and watched as Hedda walked over to the right side of the bed, grabbing her hand in the process.
