But that call from Hedda terrified him. All she had said was fingers and Storm crying. He could hear Storm in the background, screaming and whimpering, and each little sound drove home how quickly he needed to get back to her.

Hedda had told him once he got back that she didn’t know if Storm had ripped her stitches but thought she had. The way Hedda described how she’d moved Miles knew she had ripped them open. How bad, he didn’t know until he’d gotten a little glimpse of them.

Storm had been looking at him when he looked at her stomach and he didn’t want to give anything away. He didn’t want her to worry even more.

And then to get stitched back up without any pain or numbing medicine? She was definitely his brave Little girl.

Miles was going to find Richard as fast as he could so he could take care of Storm. He needed to be there for her, watch her carefully, and make sure she was healing properly. For the past two days he’d been trying his best to make sure she was eating and sleeping enough, but he also needed to work and find Richard.

The door opened and Rogan walked in. Angelo nodded his head at him and got back to looking at Storm’s vital signs.

Angelo said they wanted to watch her for the next couple of hours to make sure she was okay. Miles had been worried when he said that, but Angelo said it was just precaution and they did it for every patient.

“She’ll be fine once she regains all the blood she lost and gets some good food in her,” Angelo said. “We’ll be monitoring everything, but she looks fine right now. This is a little setback, but if she continues to get plenty of rest, food, and liquids, she should recover fully. She may have some trauma, but you could find her someone to talk to.”

It made Miles feel a little bit better, but he was still worried. His Little girl was hurt. He wasn’t there when she needed him most. He should’ve been there to help her through that.

But ultimately, he should’ve been there to stop it from happening. That should’ve never happened and if he was there, he would’ve checked the box before she even saw it.

Miles would do anything for her. If he needed to hire four people for her to talk to, then that was what he was going to do. He wanted her to fully recover from this.

“What the fuck happened?” Rogan asked.

“The guard got handed a package and he gave it to Storm. Two fingers, a male and a female. Angelo is checking to see if he can find out who they belong to,” Miles said. “I had Kirk look at her parents to see if they were all right, and they were seen leaving their home and work today, all fingers intact.”

“How did the package get through the guard? Why wasn’t he checking to see what it was?”

Those were all great questions. He had answers to some of them, but not all of them.

“The guard said it came from a regular delivery driver who dropped it off and said it was for Storm,” Miles said.

The guard he had out there was new, but seemingly loyal. He thought it would be okay, but apparently, he was wrong. This was suspicious. That package shouldn’t have made it to Storm.

“The package didn’t have her fucking name on it,” Miles said.

“You have the guard, right?” Rogan asked.

“Of fucking course, I do!” Miles was offended Rogan would think he wouldn’t have the guard. He was suspicious and he was going to torture him for information.

“He’s in the dungeon. After I heard what happened, I had Taj come pick him up and bring him to the dungeon,” Miles said.

This guard wasn’t going to get away with what he did. His careless actions made Storm rip her stitches open and be traumatized even more.

“Who was the guard?” Rogan asked.

“I’ve got no fucking clue. He’s new,” Miles said. “I’ve seen him around some of the guys that’ve been working for you for several years. He wasn’t doing anything so I took him.”

Miles knew Rogan wasn’t going to be mad about that. Rogan had told him before he left the compound with Storm that if he needed guards, to take some. He wanted Miles to find the bastard and make him pay.

Miles knew Rogan had a soft spot for Littles, but he didn’t think it was this much. They had talked in passing one time about having Littles of their own and the way he talked about them, he knew Rogan was wanting a Little of his own.

“I was going to interrogate him once Storm was better,” Miles said.

He really didn’t want to leave Storm here without him. What if she woke up and needed him? What if something happened and they needed his blood?

There were too many what ifs and he didn’t want to leave her. Not again.

“No,” Rogan said.
