“Oh!” she exclaimed. Her cheeks colored a very pretty red. “I’m so sorry about that,” she told him. “I don’t normally drink.”

He snorted. “Girly, it’s nothing I haven’t witnessed before. I promise. And you didn’t puke. So bonus points.”

Remi stepped forward, holding his hand out to Mikayla. “I’m Remi,” he told her. “If you ever get sick of Beau, I’m more than willing to take his place.”

I tugged her in front of me and draped an arm across her chest. “Fuck off,” I growled at him.

He barked out a laugh and held his hands up, taking a couple of steps back. Cecily moved forward and pulled Mikayla from me, much to my displeasure. “You’ve hogged her all to yourself for four months, Beau. She’s ours for the day.”

I cupped Mikayla’s cheek, stopping Cecily’s movements. Cecily huffed but waited. “You going to be okay?”

Mikayla smiled at me, pure happiness in her eyes. And at that moment, I realized just how much sadness she’d been carrying around with her.

My family was now her family, and she hadneededthat. She’d already lost hers. This was her second chance to belong somewhere again. And fuck, it did something to me to be the one to give it to her.

“I will,” she assured me. Leaning up on her tiptoes, she pressed her lips to mine in a chaste kiss. “Love you.”

I grinned at her. “Love you, too, goldie!” I called as Cecily dragged her inside the clubhouse where Athena and Harbor had already disappeared.

Seb clapped me on the back, and Adler leaned his elbow on my shoulder. “How’s it feel to be whipped, brother?” Adler asked.

I raised my beer to my lips. “Blissful.”

Elliot raised his beer to that.
