“Yeah. You remember how bad it was for the wedding.”

She nods, looking through the rack of dresses. “And I helped you then. Or we could get EJ down here. That woman is amazing at shopping for anything, but especially clothes.”

EJ is one of her best friends and is married to one of Fritz’s partners. Another tall bombshell, she has the curves of Marilyn Monroe, dark red hair, and that deep southern twang that drives many men crazy.

“But I think this would be gorgeous on you.”

She pulls out a dress and holds it up. Holy Taylor Swift. It is almost a replica of the gold Oscar Del La Renta dress Taylor wore in theBlank Spacevideo. It’s a little darker, which is good for me, with bows on the tulle that drapes over satin material. It’s a shorter dress, so I don’t have to worry about getting it altered. I want it so badly, I almost cry, but it isn’t me. It’s fancy and gold, and well, I’m a short, squatty girl who doesn’t look good all dressed up.

“I…I don’t think that will look good on me.”

Savannah rolls her eyes, but before she can say anything, Liv steps out of the changing rooms. The blue sheath dress fits her perfectly, accenting her slight curves like I knew it would. The color is perfect on her.

I walk closer as she looks in the three-way mirror. “Oh, you look fantastic in that.”

“You think?” She glances over at Savannah and me. We both nod.

“Mason’s tongue will roll out of his mouth like Houdini’s when Sammy’s eating.”

She snorts. “That’s a pleasant thought.”

She turns and looks behind her. The dress shows a little more of her back than I realized. And I’m right. Mason will lose it when he sees her in it.

“You have to get it. It fits you perfectly, and that color…”

“Okay,” she says, smiling. If you knew my sister, you would understand what a big step that was. She was taking on too much and feeling like she was a failure. Thanks to Mason, she now understands that asking for help doesn’t mean she’s failing.

She’s smiling as she rushes back to the changing rooms.

Savannah steps up once we’re alone again, still holding that dress. “It’s A-line, and it’ll show a lot of boob.”

“That’s not a big recommendation.”

I’m not a prude, but I do have hang-ups about my chest. I developed before a lot of other girls, and being two years younger than everyone else in my grade, it was terrible. I wasn’t emotionally equipped for the behavior of hormonal guys.

Savannah presses the dress into my hands. “Go put that on. Perfect for you to wear. It’s the kind of dress dudes look at and think about taking off.”

For some reason, Jon’s face pops into my mind. “That’s not my intention.”

One eyebrow rises. “There is a lot of chatter about you and this Jon dude.”

Embarrassment swamps me. “What do you mean, chatter? On the Juniper Springs Express?”

She rolls her eyes and snorts. “No. I don’t mess with that insanity. I have enough of that being married to Fritz.”

It’s usually only for locals, but Savannah has several connections to the town, so I could see that she could get on the JSE without being a resident.

“So where was this chatter?”

“Your siblings. They’re all thinking it is only a matter of time before you jump his bones.”

I know it wasn’t from Fritz. He wouldn’t make comments about my love life. He could care less. I mean, as long as no one hurts us, he’s good.

“It was Cora, wasn’t it?”

She smiles, rubbing a hand over her belly. “You know she instigates all the problems. Now, go try this dress on.”

“That jerk.”
