As they walked from the tent, she smiled when she saw Nick Richards talking with a couple. When they walked off, he turned and saw her then a smile lit up his handsome face.

“Hey, Cinda. How are you?” he asked when he got to her.

“Hi, Nick. I’m good. How are you and Paige?”

“Just great. Do you need to get to the trees?”

“Yes—”

“Nick.”

“Rhett. How are you?”

“Good. Could someone take us?”

“You’re together? Well, sure. Let me find someone. We’re busy.”

“No shit. As cold as it is too.”

“We’re always busy, no matter what the weather.” Nick glanced around then waved a man over. “Jose can take you. I hope you find a nice tree.”

“Always do, Nick.” Lucinda smiled.

Nick nodded, touched the brim of his hat then excused himself to help someone.

“He has a great place here,” Rhett said as he took her hand and followed Jose to a truck.

A little later, Rhett chuckled when he saw Cin standing in front of a tree and shifting from one foot to the other. She had her coat pulled tight around her but the cold didn’t stop her from moving along the row. Poor Jose looked as if he was frozen. Hell, Rhett knew how he felt. He found his tree right away, but it looked like Cin was going to check every one of them out before deciding.

He tugged his coat collar up, and lowered his hat but it didn’t help. Shit, it was cold.

“This one,” she said as she pointed at a tall Douglas fir.

“Thank God,” he muttered.

“Did you say something?”

“No, ma’am. Are you sure? Because you missed a few,” he said then could have kicked himself when she looked further along the row. He blew out a relieved breath when she nodded.

Rhett watched Jose cut the tree, in record time, carried it to the truck and drove them back to the lot.

“I want some hot chocolate,” Cin said as she stepped from the truck.

“Get one for me too, please. I’ll help Jose.”

“Okay.”

After loading the trees, he entered the tent, found Cin, and took the cup from her. He sipped it and sighed at the warm liquid.

“Did you find trees?” Nick asked as he poured himself a cup of hot chocolate.

“Yes, we both did. We just needed to warm up.” Rhett raised his cup at him.

“Good.” Nick grinned as he looked over Rhett’s shoulder and he turned to see Paige heading for them.

“Hi, Paige,” he said.
