The door opened as they walked toward the steps. Lucinda smiled when she saw Grant step onto the porch.

“Come on, it’s too damn cold out,” Grant said.

“No one told you to come out here,” Rhett said.

Lucinda laughed when Grant raised his middle finger at him, entered the house, and closed the door.

“See what you did? Now, we won’t have a way to Wyoming.”

“Bullshit.” Rhett shrugged, making her laugh again.

They entered the house to see Grant, Jessa, Calder, and Mitzie there.

“This house is just beautiful.”

Jessa smiled at her. “Thanks. We love it too.”

“If everyone is ready, we’ll get this show on the road.” Grant set his coffee cup in the sink.

Everyone walked out the door and then drove to the hangar where Grant kept his Learjet, and once they stowed the luggage, they piled into the jet. Lucinda heard Grant talking on his headphones. Then the plane taxied down the runway and lifted into the air.

She was so excited to be going to meet Rhett’s family. Even though they didn’t live close, they seemed like a close family. God! She missed that.

When she returned, she would ask her mother to come for lunch and maybe get their relationship back on track. Not that she didn’t want to see her mother. It was Garth. Lucinda trusted him about as far as she could throw him. She would love time alone with her mother, but he never wanted to let her out of his sight. Lucinda would do what she could to see her mother without him.

“Are you okay?” Rhett whispered.

“Yes. I am.” She smiled.

“Good. I know you’ve been upset since your mother’s.”

“I was, but I will not let him upset me. As long as I don’t see him, I’ll be fine. I am going to ask her to lunch once we get back.”

“Good. I know I said she seems happy but lonely too.”

“I agree.”

Rhett took her hand in his, and she squeezed it, welcoming the support.

Soon, they landed at the airport in Wyoming. Grant walked from the cockpit, opened the door, and lowered the steps.

Lucinda and Rhett wished everyone Merry Christmas and walked down the steps to where Grant had opened the luggage compartment.

“Have a Merry Christmas, you two. We’ll see you in a week.” Grant smiled.

“Thanks so much for doing this, Grant.” Lucinda hugged him.

“My pleasure. Have a good time.”

Rhett shook his hand. “Merry Christmas, Grant.”

“Thanks. See you.” Grant jogged up the steps, pulled up the stairs, and closed the door.

“Will he take off right away?”

“He’ll have to wait his turn, but they’ll take off soon.”

“Okay. Now what?”
