So the three passengers sat in awkward silence, surrounded by their equally silent security guards. Not that it was all that quiet. The road noise was thunderous at highway speeds, meaning the SUV probably had special tires, too. Only the best for the favored son of a not-quite chaebol family.

“I’m sorry,” Tae Hyun finally announced. “I know you didn’t mean anything by what you said.”

Jason turned back to Tae Hyun and his composed, almost frosty expression. He obviously wasn’t sorry that they’d argued, only that they’d done it in front of Seong Woo. But it was a fight about nothing. And appearances were important to Tae Hyun, so Jason decided to let it go. “Okay.”

Seong Woo snorted. “Wow. I could learn a lot from you two. I think that’s the shortest fight I’ve ever seen. One time, Yoo Mi didn’t talk to me for twelve hours because I told her I didn’t like her dress.”

Tae Hyun rolled his eyes. “Try telling me you don’t like what I’m wearing, and you’ll get the same response.”

Seong Woo chuckled. “No wonder you two get along so well.”

Jason shook his head, pulled his phone from his pocket, and turned it on. He could imagine what it must be like to be on the receiving end of Yoo Mi’s ire. She didn’t strike him as someone to so quickly let things go.

After connecting to the local network, Jason sent Naomi a quick message to let her know they’d finally arrived. He knew Tae Hyun owed his sister a similar message but decided against reminding him of that, given their mutual crankiness. Hopefully, he’d remember before she got mad and messaged him to complain.

Passing through the gated community’s security in a vehicle with Seong Woo inside was an entirely different affair than the first time they’d done it months ago. Then again, everything was different than it had been back then. But the group was ushered through security without delay and were soon whisked up to Seong Woo and Yoo Mi’s condo via the penthouse elevator. When the doors opened, Jason was immediately overcome with the spicy, tangy aroma of what he hoped would be dinner. A pair of uniformed attendants waited for them in the marble-tiled entryway outside the elevator to take their bags.

Jason was impressed. “You have servants now?”

Seong Woo chuckled and shook his head as he led them into the condo’s expansive main room. “No. They’re temporary. Partly because you’re both here and partly to support Yoo Mi before the wedding. Speaking of which, she should be around here somewhere.”

“I’m right here,” a smiling Yoo Mi announced as she emerged from an open doorway behind them. She wore giant, red oven mitts and had covered her smart, garnet sweater and loose, black pants with a frilly white apron. Then she frowned. “You boys look like you could use a drink.”

Jason nodded. “Make that several, and you’d be right.”

Tae Hyun sniffed the air. “Did you cook?”

Yoo Mi dramatically rolled her eyes. “Darling, you know I don’t cook. I ordered dinner in. I’m just playing the part.” She looked at Seong Woo. “Why don’t you show them where they can wash up and change while I get dinner ready?”

“Of course.”

Seong Woo walked up to Yoo Mi and gently kissed her cheek before beckoning for Jason and Tae Hyun to follow. Then he led them to the guest suite, where their bags had already been deposited. Like the rest of the condo, it was elegantly minimal, with light-colored, polished wood floors and expensive, Scandinavian-style furniture.

Seong Woo pointed to a door in the corner opposite the room’s entrance. “The ensuite is through there if you want to wash up. I’ll go get your drinks ready in the meantime.”

Jason snorted. “You’re the second person to suggest we wash up. Do we really smell that bad?”

Seong Woo chuckled. “I’m having the car fumigated as we speak.”

Tae Hyun wrapped his arm around Jason and pulled him close. “We won’t be long. Thank you again for letting us stay here.”

Seong Woo smiled. “It’s no problem. See you in a bit.”

Tae Hyun turned on Jason as soon as they were alone. “What was that about in the car?”

“Are you seriously still on that?” Jason shook his head. “I thought we’d moved on.”

Tae Hyun frowned. “You know I don’t like arguing in front of people.”

“So, what? You’ve been saving this until we’re finally alone so you can pounce on me?” Jason stripped off his shirt and sniffed one of his armpits. “Yikes. I guess I do need a shower.” He turned toward the bathroom, but Tae Hyun stopped him with a hand on his chest.

“Stop avoiding the issue.”

“What issue?” Jason huffed. “The fact that you’re irrational about people being supportive? Or the fact that I called you out on it?”

Tae Hyun’s frown was almost a scowl. Jason knew he’d probably been too blunt. But he was too tired and cranky to pull his punches.

“I’m not fucking irrational.”
