Admittedly stunned, I stare as he walks to the fridge and takes a cutting board out, then steps to the stove and turns the burner on.

When I reach the bathroom and close the door, I’m stumped. No weird behavior. No trapped beast trying to get away before any conversation might start. Maybe, since he knows he’s stuck, he’s biding his time.

Maybe I’m a complete mental case who should relax and enjoy the man I’ve been dreaming about for two years now that he’s back and he seems to like me.

After a quick cleanup, and getting dressed, I step out of the bathroom to the smell of beautiful tacos and the sight of a gorgeous man cooking for me.

CHAPTERFOUR

LANDON

It takes a meal and a snuggle before I can get Grace to relax. I don’t know what kind of asshats she’s been dating, or has dated in the past, but I want to beat every one of those fuckers to a pulp.

Fed and lying on the couch with a new blanket, we sleep until six in the morning, when the door lock clicks, and a petite cleaning lady screams at the sight of us.

Grace is on her feet and speaking in Spanish to the lady before I have the entire scene sorted.

The cleaning lady nods, looks sympathetic, then smirks as she looks from Grace to me.

I give her my best smile and shrug.

She blushes, and I figure we’re okay to move on.

Grace tugs her shoes on, and her face is bright red. “I have to run home and shower. I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of questions.”

I pull the blankets we used into a bundle and put them on the edge of the couch to take with me. Wrapping my arms around her, I kiss the top of her soft, messy hair. “Just tell them the truth. We got locked in and had no way to call anyone. Hopefully, they’ll get that phone on the wall fixed, and the security guard will do a better headcount in the future.”

She nods and presses her cheek to my chest. “I had a good time.”

Pressing my thumb under her chin, I tip her head up so her gaze meets mine. “I hope that’s not goodbye I hear.”

She shrugs. “I hope not too.”

“I’m going to take you out for dinner tonight, Grace. You can’t say no, so don’t make excuses. I want to make sure you know I’m not a one-night stand.” I hold my breath.

“Okay. I’ll meet you out front after rushes. No way I’m meeting you here again.” She blushes deeper but smiles.

My heart is near bursting. This woman is all I want. “Out front.”

She lifts on her toes and presses a quick kiss to my lips before she dashes from the kitchen.

The cleaning lady grins at me. “Beautiful girl.”

“Yes, ma’am.” I wait for her to finish cleaning, then I put out all the breakfast items, grab the blankets, and go out to my truck. I drive to my restaurant to get ready for lunch service at the studio.

It’s late again, and I’m waiting out front. I’ve already had a long conversation with the security guard. He was really sorry for locking us in, and the phone in the break room has been fixed. It turns out the break room is the only camera-free zone in the studio, so he didn’t see us.

At least that’s a blessing. I can only imagine the fallout if there was a tape of the break room from last night.

I’m lost in my thoughts when Grace calls good night to the director. She scans the parking lot, and when her gaze settles on me, she smiles.

As a grown man, I should not be smitten by a pretty blonde with a beautiful smile. Yeah, I’m done for. It’s best to just admit defeat. I’m so far gone there’s no coming back. All I have to do is convince Grace that we’re more than a holiday-movie fling.

I meet her halfway to my van, and before she has time for doubts, wrap her in a hug. “How’d it go today?”

She slides her hands around my back and presses her cheek to my chest. “Well, it’s only eight thirty, and I’m done for the night.”
