“Yes, baby,” he growled against my neck and drove deeper. I groaned, raising my hips to match his gentle rhythm. But he wasn’t done.

He hoisted my hips, and my legs wrapped around his waist. He thrust faster and faster, and my breath came out in short, shaky spurts.

I could have sworn my eyes rolled to the back of my head.

I clung tightly to his as our bodies jerked forward and back in harmony. His body stiffened against mine and I arched my back. Dots formed in my eyes as we neared our climax. I was shocked as hot liquid seemed to squirt over his cock as I screamed my release, spurred on he kept fucking me through our orgasm until we were both spent.

“Ah,” he exhaled and kissed my forehead before rolling off me. I rested my head his chest and he wrapped his arms around me, drawing me closer. His heart beat raced against his chest and I glanced at him, amused.

“Why’s your heart beating so fast?”

He stroked my hair and chuckled, his deep voice rumbling against his throat. “We just had very amazing sex, Giselle,” he kissed my hair and rested his head against the pillow. “Sex with you is always amazing.”

I drew invisible circles on his chest with my index finger and wondered if I should voice out a thought that troubled me.

“You’ve got something bothering that beautiful mind of yours,” he drawled, sounding sleepy.

“And how do you know that?” I knew he was tired, but I still had to ask.

He yawned and I snuggled even closer. “After a night like this, you still ask that? You amaze me every single time, Giselle. I know you—I could even recognize your footsteps from a mile away.”

I snickered. “Superman,” I teased, and he chuckled.

His arms grew limp by the passing second and I knew he was slowly slipping away into the night.

But I had to know.

“Nikolai?”

“Mm-hmm?”

“How do you...” I cleared my throat. “How do you intend to handle the situation with the Italians?”

“Mm,” he responded groggily and shifted on the bed. “Don’t you worry about that now, Giselle. I will find a way and I will take care of it. Just trust me, okay?”

A picture of Nikolai being shot in the shoulder flashed through my mind and I shook my head to clear the thought. I didn’t want to think about it. The thought of losing him terrified me.

“Okay,” I mumbled.

Soon, the sound of his soft snores replaced the silence in the room. I sat up and stared at him, peacefully knocked out like a baby. A smile touched my lips, and I teased the tip of his soft hair.

I knew what was happening to me. The butterflies, the shivers, and the heart racing whenever I thought about him? I had enough experience to note the signs when a person was falling in love.

And I was falling fast for Nikolai Vadim. I pressed a soft kiss to his forehead and assumed my place on his chest. In no time, I fell fast asleep.

Morning arrived with excited birdsongs from the birds on the trees outside the window, breakfast in bed waiting for me, and a vacant space beside me.

Nikolai was up early again and, hopefully, he had taken better care getting up than he did yesterday.

I ate my breakfast quickly and soaked myself in a hot bath. Memories of the night I spent with him resurfaced in my mind and I smiled to myself as I changed from the bathrobe and into some comfortable clothes.

I checked my hair in the mirror and smoothed my top and denim shorts before heading out of the bedroom, breakfast tray in hand. When I got to the kitchen, I didn’t expect to see Lilianna sipping coffee by the kitchen island. She looked so peaceful, with her lush hair falling over her shoulders and framing her face as she swirled the spoon in the mug.

“Lilianna?”

Her head perked up and I dropped the tray.

“Oh, my God!” she released her mug and marched forward, enveloping me in a warm hug. “Look who’s glowing?”
