“See you,” I say before killing the call and opening the door to go out.

The second I walk to my SUV, a shiver shoots up my spine, causing goosebumps to pucker all over my skin. Footsteps on concrete echo behind me, and I don’t even need to turn around to know who it is.

GABRIEL

Ibring the Harley to a stop outside of the designated meeting point, but even as excitement courses through my veins, something feels off. Church should be here along with Valentine, but I only see Church’s bike along with the others’ vehicles.

After Church’s apprehension about Amara, I decided not to let her in on this meeting so she’s not aware of the hidden Vasile.

“Priest,” the twins greet me when I walk inside the abandoned warehouse. They both look pumped and ready for what’s about to happen, knowing that they will finally get their revenge.

I nod in greeting, then see Gustav standing off to the side with a tall, blonde man - a fucking spitting image of Kazimir.

“Gustav,” I call and walk over to them. Gustav nods, and the blonde gives me a once over, then takes a step towards me.

“Gabriel Preutescu, the man who would have been my brother-in-law,” he says casually, dropping my heart right into my feet with ease at those words.

“What? Brother-in-law?” I ask, shaking his hand. This man does not look familiar at all, nor do I get a familiar feeling from him or his scent.

He nods his head. “Angelique was my Entwined Fated. No one knew as our families were at war,”

Not only does his statement shock me to my core, but it renders me fucking speechless. Angelique was his Fated? She had him and she still pretended to be dead after all this time?

“Did she know you were still alive?” I ask, careful not to give my sister’s secret away.

He shakes his head, and a pained look crosses his eyes. “I had to sever all Bonds before going into hiding…all including our Fated Bond.”

“Was this before or after we had to return to Europe?”

“Before. We were going to run away together when she returned, but then my brother decided to kill the entire bloodline,” he says as his blue eyes shimmer to crimson. “Not soon after I severed our Bonds, I heard of Angelique’s passing. It simply added more fuel to my vengeance.”

He supposedly died before we were to board that ship. Angelique severed our Bond, so she can live with her Fated but then her Fated supposedly died… My sister didn’t sever her Bond with her family because of me. She was going to run away with him.

“Ah. Things make a lot more sense now. Well, if we survive this evening, be sure to look into a little town called Clearview Point. I think you’ll find something truly amazing there,” I say, leaving my words ambiguous enough for him to take the bait.

“Anyway, are we all ready?” I ask, turning to everyone and seeing Church on his phone looking frantic. “Church?”

“Valentine isn’t picking up. I’ve been trying to get a hold of him since he left the estate with that Fae bitch,” he says, crossing his arms and biting the pad of his thumb.

That sliver of unease is back and I look at my hand, still counting the 101 Green Maker Threads from everyone I’ve ever turned. At least he’s not dead, so I shouldn’t panic yet, but the fact that my second isn’t here doesn’t sit right with me.

“We’ll just have to relay what I say, then. Gustav, do you mind introducing us to your friend?” I ask, gesturing to the blonde I just spoke with and Gustav crosses his arms while walking towards us.

“This is Axel Vasile, Pureblood and true heir to the Vasile name. He’s prepared to hide in the shadows until the last minute, but no one is to interfere when he kills Kazimir,” Gustav says, looking at the twins and me as if to reprimand us.

I nod. “As long as I get to take his head to my queen, I’m fine with not being the one to deal the final blow.”

“I just want to see him dead, but add a little suffering in there too,” Aiden says, not looking too pleased with not being the one to kill Kazimir, but he understands what’s at stake if he doesn’t.

Aaron doesn’t say a word, though, and looks impassive. I don’t know what’s going on in his head, but it can’t be good. It will be the first time any of them will see Kazimir after what he did to them, so tensions are high even if they try to hide it.

“It’s off to the estate since they should be on their way there now; as per the eye Church has at the airport, their jet should be landing in about an hour,” I say, then cock my head to the door. “I’ll see you all there.”

They nod in agreement and Church follows me to our bikes while the others scatter in their own directions. I can feel the anxiety rippling off of Church when we get to the Harleys and when he sees me looking at him, he blanches.

“Anything you want to tell me?”

He shakes his head. “Nothing that will help, Pres. I’m just nervous about meeting these fuckers knowing what they did and if it’s at the estate, Xenia will know something is up,” he says, sighing. “Why couldn’t I tell her?”
