Oh, it’s Her now?

“When we get to the estate, I’ll use my Allure on her to go to sleep and stay out of our way until sunrise. That way, she won’t get caught in the crossfire.”

“I hate the sound of that, but if it’ll help keep her safe, then I’m all for it,” he says, then he puts his helmet on. “Thanks, Pres.”

“Thank me after the threat is dead,” I grumble and put my helmet on before hauling ass out of there.

All the lying just for keeping them safe is getting to me. I hate lies and deception, but now I’m doing the same to the woman I love. When I get to the estate, I’ll call her to see if she’s still okay, and when I get back with Kazimir’s head, I’m eating her pussy until she passes out.

I fucking hate this. But I’ll do whatever it fucking takes to keep her safe.

When we get to the estate, I call Katherine’s cell phone, but she doesn’t answer, so I leave a voicemail. Fuck, I hope she’s not still pissed off at me just leaving like that. After pocketing my cell phone, I walk to Xenia’s room and knock on the door, but there’s also no answer.

I let a few seconds pass, and I decide to walk inside only to see her not there at all - it’s fucking after midnight and she’s not here.

“Church,” I call and when I sense him behind me, I gesture to the bed. “What do you see here?”

“Not Xenia and by the way her cupboard doors are standing open, it looks like she left in a rush,” he growls, then walks inside and looks around.

I pinch the bridge of my nose, and that uneasy feeling makes its way back inside my heart. “Call her and see where she is,” I say before walking out of the bedroom to Amara’s, only to find it empty as well. “Where the fuck are these women?!”

Katherine not answering, Xenia looked like she left in a rush, and Amara and Valentine were missing. Nothing could make this night any fucking worse.

“GABRIEL PREUTESCU!”

Nothing except the fucking council arriving sooner than expected and right while I’m freaking the fuck out. Church walks out of Xenia’s room looking visibly upset and shakes his head.

“Their bird should still be up in the fucking air, Pres,” he says, swallowing hard. “They shouldn’t fucking be here yet.”

That feeling of unease is now amplified, but I shake it off and make my way downstairs. Just because they’re here early doesn’t mean a fucking thing. The others are lying in wait somewhere on the estate, so the plan will just commence earlier than expected.

Nothing to fucking worry about, Priest. Nothing will fuck this up.

I exhale and walk out of the mansion to meet them, but that fucking worry spikes again when I see blood on Kazimir’s hands and mouth.

I raise my nose to the air to get a scent of the blood but smell nothing familiar, and strangely enough, I smell baobab.

The rest of the council stands behind him, all but Eirisse, and that bothers me a fuck load more than I want to admit. He grins and holds out his arms to the side as if in greeting, then his eyes flicker up to the balustrade behind me.

“Ah, I see you’ve brought the guests it has informed us of! Oh, tsk, tsk, Gabriel. And here I thought we had an agreement.” He uses his best condescending voice on me and I try not to let it grate me by balling my hands into fists.

“That agreement fell away when you decided to touch what’s mine, Kazimir,” I growl, my nails elongating against my palms and I draw blood. “You should have known better.”

Kazimir laughs and shakes his head. “You decide to go up against me and the entire council simply because I fondled and kissed your Fated while she allowed me to? Are you truly that dense, Gabriel? Ha!”

He kissed her while touching her. No wonder she wouldn’t let me touch her after that.

“But,” he claps his hands together and looks at everyone standing behind me. “I’ll forgive all your trespasses if you hand those traitors over to me. Hell, I’ll even allow you to continue this little biker thing you have going.”

I don’t know how the fuck I’ll remain calm even knowing that we will win this. Kazimir has a way of getting under anyone’s skin even if you are a Pureblood.

“Who died and made you God?” I smirk, cocking my head to the side. “I’m not handing anyone over to you.”

Kazimir’s grin widens, and he chuckles while gesturing behind him and snapping his fingers.

“I had a feeling you’d say that, so I brought a little leverage along. Perhaps now you will reconsider,” he says and the limo door behind him opens.

My heart can be ripped out right now and it will hurt less. I can walk out into the sun and it will feel like a small electric current on my skin. Nothing could have prepared me for this, nothing at all, and now I will suffer for what I have done.
