Lenny places her hands on her hip.

“I’m warning you, Nikolay Miller! No funny business. No flirting.” She demands pointing her finger at me.

The urge to pin her back against the counter and take what I want is almost too much.

I love how fiery she gets, and shit, I don’t tell anyone my full name. She must’ve done her homework. Not even my mom calls me Nikolay anymore. Not since my senior year prank when I streaked around the school and jumped in the lake behind it.

Hearing it from Lenny doesn’t give the same guilty feeling as when my mom says it. Instead, I’m thinking of taking her upstairs and tying her to the bed for my own scolding.

For just a second there’s a slight tinge of fear in her eyes.

The fear of losing all restraint and jumping my bones. I feel it too.

I laugh it off and walk away before I lose my cool.

“In your dreams, Lenny Briggs. Just friends.” I tease again.

I’ve never been this crazy about a girl. I’m not going to flirt with her.

Nope.

I’ll give her exactly what she wants until she’s begging for more.

I must be losing my goddamn mind.

Chapter 22

Lenny

I didn’t mean to call Nick by his full name.

I read an article about him my freshman year.

It was written when he was in high school. The town he came from had a huge hockey following and talked about him getting his scholarship to Drexton Hall.

That led to another article and to another and to another until I was looking at a young fourteen-year-old Nikolay Miller who asked the town reporters to just call him Nick after he made his high school starting position debut.

He probably thinks I’m some kind of stalker.

I swear I’m not!

I just got lost in the news articles when I was searching to find out how he got his start. I was just trying to impress my professor with my knowledge of the team and my research skills!

Definitely not a stalker.

I was just so angry about Cora calling him the wrong name. Top it off with him thinking he was hot shit and I’d be ok with just being some little personal puck bunny for him.

Now he’s thrown down a challenge that I won’t be able to restrain myself?

Please.

Not when he’s acting like an arrogant playboy.

I almost cracked.

He stared down at me with his eyes turning dark gray. My knees buckled and I just about melted to the floor until he stepped back.

I just ruined whatever friendship we could’ve had.
