Who am I kidding?

We didn’t have a friendship. Nick Miller is not friends with girls like me. Not really. Not unless I’m getting him off.

This is for the best. No good can come out of being friends with Nick anyway.

Besides amazing orgasms.

Nope. Not thinking about that. They’re notthatgreat.

Instead, I do what I do best.

Hole myself up in my room with my music on and write.

For days, I avoid everyone. It’s just class, work, and writing. That’s it.

I forget all about Nick and have been working on a plan for the weekend my brother is here.

I’ll take him to a game. Show him around the campus.

Layla and Greg agreed to hang out Saturday night. They’re opening up one of the rinks for a free skate that weekend. Drexton Hall does it every once in a while, so the students have something to do besides partying. As if it would stop them. Sometimes they even do movie nights in the quad for spring.

Who knows? Maybe we’ll even run into other players and I won’t look like a complete ass for dropping the ball. And then Sunday I’ll take him into town.

It’s a perfect plan.

The dining hall is practically empty.

It’s usually quieter when I come here on Wednesday Greek Gyro Day, but it’s even more so today.

Of course, Nick is here, the only one in line ordering.

Looking good like always.

He’s the only guy I know that can make gym shorts and a sweatshirt look sexy. Top that off with his backward hat and hair sticking out on all sides.

My inner self is drooling.

So far, I’ve been able to avoid him, but I guess my luck has run out. There’s no way he won’t see me here, and my stomach is growling for a gyro. I’ve been craving one all week.

Friends. I can do this. Friends say hi, and talk to each other. Even eat dinner together.

“Good game last night.” I say, coming up behind him.

He’s busy looking down at his phone, but smiles when his eyes meet mine.

I almost forgot about that smile.

Almost.

One week of avoidance and I’m forgetting about him. See? I can do this.

“I thought you weren’t going to come.” He smirks at me. “Don’t think I didn’t see you running to the back of the gym as soon as I walked through the front door.”

Fuck.How did he see that?

“I was working and had to clean the back. It’s my job.” I make a lame excuse.

The guy at the counter asks for my order, but Nick interrupts him. “I already ordered hers. Thanks.”
