I want him to test me.

We’re in a busy restaurant and someone tries to get through, knocking into Luca, and breaking my trance so I can think again, but Luca is right back in my face.

“Look at me, Kandace.”

I don’t. It’s better not to see his face and those eyes that completely blind me to the man attached to them.

“Fine, I was jealous.” Admitting that is better than having to look at his face. “I admit, for almost two weeks you’ve been MIA, and seeing you with another girl, thinking that you’ve completely moved on, made me jealous.” That’s it. No feelings. No touchy feely stuff we both know will never happen. “I’m human, and the attention got to me just like it would anyone else.”

Luca groans, not getting what he wanted out of me. He lost this battle between us, but he’s still grinning as if he’s going to win the war.

“I know that was very hard for you to admit, so I’ll take it. Now, let’s get out of here.” He goes to take my hand, but I back away.

“I have a charity event and a presidential overthrow to plan.” I just added even more to my plate. Thank you, Chelsea.

“After that?”

I hesitate.

Blindly fucking Luca Kingivson would feel so good right now. I haven’t had any sex in weeks. I need a stress reliever. I tried that incense stuff, but I don’t think I have the right scent. It’s not working for me, and I gave the rest to Callie. She loves that shit. Me, I need a good rough fuck to push my stress right out. A fuck I know Luca can deliver on.

Still, this isn’t a good idea. Luca has feelings for me. He hasn’t said it, but he almost did. They may not be real, but he thinks they are, and it feels wrong to use him like that.

“I don’t know.” I’m about to turn him down, but he doesn’t let me.

“That’s not a no. Therefore, we’re doing something together. It doesn’t need to be sex, but I know you could use one of my many delightful distractions. Do you need me to list them off again for you?” He’s so eager I can’t help but laugh. “Quickly, I’m fun, have low expectations, and I don’t think I need to remind you of the third one.” He leans in and nibbles my ear before whispering in a deep rumble. “I’ll meet you over there.”

I don’t know where he’s talking about, but he’s gone back to his table before I can ask.

The girls cheer as I make my way back to our table.

“Took you long enough to come back.” Penny winks, and the other two giggle.

“Yeah, yeah,” I say, waving her off. “Let’s get on with this.”

“We ordered you a martini and got some apps to share,” Dani says when I see the glass sitting on the table.

I take a long sip while the other three talk about the whole charity skate idea. It seems like the best option, but we have no idea how to pull it off to actually get students to want to attend.

Conversation halts as Luca slides in next to me with his beer and plate.

It’s a good thing our high-top table was made for six, otherwise we’d be squished from the size of Luca squeezing in. His thighs are massive and there’s not enough room without him being fully against me.

“Sorry, I already ordered over there, but I threw some money down. The guys won’t care. The girls were upset, but they were annoying me.” He slides further in and pushes me over when I don’t move. “What?” He asks, getting questioning stares around our table. “I’m team Kandi in this whole Delta Nu takeover. I’m here for support.”

“Oh, yeah. We have to work on your campaign too!” Dani exclaims.

“First, let’s work on this charity thing,” Renna announces. “When our food comes out, we can switch gears.”

Luca squeezes my thigh while they continue talking. I can’t focus on anything anyone is saying. This was a bad idea. His hand moves up under my skirt, grazing my center before I push him away.

“In case you forgot number three,” He whispers in my ear and I’m melting from the heat of his hot breath on my neck.

My entire body is on fire.

It’s the martini. Alcohol always makes me hot.

“What if you mix the two?” Luca suggests between two big bites of his sandwich.
