“Oh, yeah that’s true. Are your sure about this?” Emilia’s eyes darted to Evan and then back at Airon.

“Absolutely. Later, I want all the details.” Airon nudged her toward Evan.

Emilia gave her a hug. “Thank you.” Then she took a slow breath and walked toward Evan.

Airon stood for a little bit longer and watched the two walk away, laughing. The sound of the two of them brought a smile to her face. Then with those thoughts, Airon started walking home.

“Quairken,” Isabella called, “did you find the trunk?”

“Of course, I did.” He walked toward Isabella in the attic.

“That’s good. I wasn’t sure if we would even remember where we placed it considering it has been so long since we even needed it.”

“That’s true, but the trunk was here beneath the old living room set.”

“Well, let’s open it,” Isabella urged as she clasped her hands together.

“Isabella, I don’t know.”

“Quairken, why? It’s not like we have anything to worry about,” she patted his arm.

“I love you, but what if Airon doesn’t understand? I worry that despite all our best efforts, what if we have failed? I know I’m kind of panicking, but you did earlier, so I guess now it’s my turn to second-guess.”

“Quairken, how would we have failed? Aironell is sixteen, and she’s beautiful, smart, kind, caring, and everything else that will make her a good queen. She communicates well with others, and she even has a great handle on her powers. She is more than we could ever have hoped for, and I think her parents and Alzerion will be more than pleased with us. We did our job and most important of all, she is still alive.”

“Isabella,” he said as he put his arms around her waist, “I know we did our best. I know we raised her well, but what if in the end, she can’t beat the evil that threatens Bachusa? In truth, she wasn’t raised there, so she doesn’t quite know how to handle that world.”

“Just relax, as you always tell me to do,” she replied. A small smile crossed her face.

Isabella’s hands moved from his waist to around his neck as she gazed into his eyes, tenderly. Then her right hand moved away to graze his cheek. She smiled and let her lips give him a reassuring kiss.

Quairken grinned when she pulled away. “You always do know how to calm me down.” He winked. Isabella laughed as she shook her head.

“Well, I should. After all, we have been married for far too long—not that I’m complaining.” There was a twinkle in her eyes.

“You’re right, though. Everything will be fine. Yeah.”

“Exactly and I’m looking forward to telling Aironell the truth.”

“I’m glad you are. He cleared his throat. “I guess one of us should be.”

“I mean, I was dreading it, but I since realized something. The sooner Aironell knows who she really is and all about her past, the sooner we can return to Bachusa. It has been an honor to raise the princess, but I miss our home.” Her breath caught in her throat, just a bit.

“Well, I can’t disagree with you on that. I am happy to go home as well. In fact, just hearing the name Bachusa brings back memories of fonder times.”

“I know what you mean,” Isabella said. “It does bring a smile. However, I do hope things have gotten better since the last time Alzerion was here.”

“Oh wow, that’s true. I hope things did too, for everyone’s sake. What with us bringing her back to her kingdom.”

The two walked down the stairs and into the living room.

“I agree, Isabella. It isn’t like Alzerion not to have contacted us since he left.” Quairken sat down on the couch and motioned for Isabella to join him. “He must have been busy.”

“That’s true, but I just hope he’s alright. You know he how gets.”

“I know what you mean,” he answered with a sort of smile.

Airon opened the back door. She heard talking so she followed the voices through the kitchen, then dropped her bag on the floor in the hall. Within a few moments she strolled in from the open entryway to the living room. As she got closer she heard an odd name. Alzerion. What’s an Alzerion?
