“I want us to be friends.” Gabriel was aware he needed to watch how he phrased the next part so she didn’t get angry or run. “I’d like us both to be able to enjoy the club.”

Her eyes widened. “You’re okay with me going to the club?” The disbelief in her voice almost caused him to smile. He didn’t blame her. He’d been fighting it since he found out she was a member.

“I’m asking you to give us both a chance.”

She stared at him with guarded eyes. “What do you mean?”

“I mean, I’d like us to play together in the club.” When she started to shake her head, he captured her chin. “Don’t answer now. Think about it. I’ll be here Friday. That gives you all week.”

“All right.” Her eyes softened.

“Thank you.” He breathed out a sigh of relief. Step one. Now to plan for step two.

“I need to talk with Max. I think I know why they’re rejecting the plans for the parking lot. Come with me.”

He took her arm and led her around the club to a back door. He held it open, motioned her to Max’s office. At least she was giving them a chance, and he’d take it. Gabriel knocked on the closed office door.

“Just a second.” Max’s strong voice came through and then there was a loud giggle.

Gabriel glanced down at Dani, who had a wide grin on her face and pink cheeks. “Sierra’s in there with him.”

“I didn’t think he’d cheat on Sierra,” Dani said.

The door opened. “I wouldn’t.”

“If he did, I’d have his balls for breakfast,” Sierra said.

Max gestured for them to enter his office. Sierra sat on the sofa with her legs crossed, trying to look innocent. But her lips were red, and her hair had that just-out-of-bed look. A stab of jealousy surprised Gabriel. What was it like to know someone as well as Max and Sierra knew each other? Gabriel glanced at Dani, her cute blush still coloring her cheeks. He wanted that color heightened because of him and no one else. Did that mean he wanted a relationship? No. He didn’t do relationships. Did he?

“What can I do for you?” Max asked.

“I think I figured out why the city is having an issue with the parking lot,” Dani said.

“That’s news,” Sierra said, leaning forward.

“Let’s take this into the classroom. I can unroll the big plans, and you can show us.” Max grabbed the large white tubes from behind his desk. Once in the classroom, Max unrolled the plans on one of the tables.

Dani leaned over, and Gabriel’s dick shifted at the sight of her round ass, perfect for flogging.Behave.“We’ve extended the parking lot twenty feet out toward the trees.” She pointed out the area on the plans. “I think what they’re worried about is here.” She slid her finger around. “This is the south end of the parking lot that leads to the main road. I’m wondering if they’re worried we’re going to take out the old pine trees?”

“But we’re not touching them,” Max said.

“No, we’re not, but they could think we are based on the verbiage on the plans.” She pulled up information her tablet. “It says on the accompanying paperwork: twenty feet around the entire parking lot.”

“Well, damn,” Gabriel muttered. “I never thought they’d think of the driveway as part of that. I can amend the report and refile. That should clear up any misunderstanding.” How could he have made such a mistake?

“The other thing is to let them know we’re using drought resistant plants that are more eco-friendly, and I think you’ll want to install a sprinkler system in the new area.”

“I didn’t think of that,” Max said.

“That makes a lot of sense,” Sierra said. “We should put in a good watering system throughout the place.”

Max groaned.

“It does make sense.” Gabriel leaned over the plans. “The piping runs along this line.” He ran his finger over the plans where there was a faint red line. “I bet we could tap into that easily.”

“Yes, it would save time and money if we can do it without too much digging,” Dani said.

“How soon can you two figure this all out and get the new plans to the city?” Max asked.
