Chapter 7
Dani pulled into the Wicked Sanctuary parking lot Thursday evening. Gabriel had reminded her earlier today that he was giving a demonstration tonight. She wondered why he hadn’t mentioned it before now and hadn’t told her what to wear. Excitement thrummed through her. Tonight, they would play in the club.
She smiled at Ralph as she signed in. It would be interesting to see how many people showed up for this demo. After she changed and went into the club, she found Sierra and Rose talking by the bar.
“Nice outfit,” Rose commented.
“Thanks.” Dani had chosen a black lace top along with a thong. She wanted to be ready for whatever Gabriel planned for tonight. She looked around the club. There he was. “If you’ll excuse me, I need to make sure I’m dressed okay for Gabriel.”
Gabriel looked up from the scene he was setting up as she approached. “Good evening, Sir.”
“Good evening, Dani.” His gaze took in what she was wearing and desire flared in his eyes. “When the scene is done, I’m going to take you home and torment you.”
Her body heated, and a flush went from her toes to her head. “Didn’t you do that Saturday?”
Gabriel laughed. “Did you dress this way just for me?”
“I did. But I wasn’t sure how you wanted me dressed for this demo.”
Gabriel blinked, and his face went blank. “For the demo?”
“Yes, Sir.” Dani shifted from one foot to the other. Why was Gabriel so reluctant? “You do want me to be the sub in your demo, don’t you?”
Gabriel stepped off the small stage and put his hands on Dani’s shoulders. “I’m sorry. I forgot about it until Max called me. I don’t think we’re a good fit for this demo.”
Dani stiffened and just stared at Gabriel. “Why not?” She was trying to keep the anger out of her voice.
“We’ve only been playing together a short time, and we need to understand more about each other before doing this.” He waved at the stage.
“What does that have to do with anything? Am I your sub or not?”
“You are, but you will not be my demo sub tonight.” His fingers tightened on her shoulders. “I should have said something to you earlier, and I didn’t. That was my mistake.”
Her anger boiled up. “I guess this means you’re no longer my Dom.” She shrugged his hands away and turned.
“Dani.” He reached out and grabbed her elbow.
“No. You can’t have it both ways. You told me you would discuss it with me, and you didn’t. So I guess that means I’m not your sub.” She pulled her arm away and marched back over to the bar. Sierra and Rose were a little out of focus.
“Oh, Dani…” Sierra put her arm around Dani’s shoulder and guided her to one of the sofas.
“Was I wrong to assume that I would be his sub tonight?” Dani hated the wobble in her voice. Gabriel was rejecting her. It hurt so much.
“I don’t think so,” Rose said, sitting down across from them.
“You and Gabriel have a history. Could it be that history that’s making him hesitate?” Sierra asked.
Dani shook her head. “It shouldn’t. We’ve talked. We know each other’s limits. Why won’t he talk to me?”
Sierra frowned. “Well, something is holding him back.”
“I don’t know what, and he won’t tell me. I know one thing. He broke his word to me.”

Gabriel watched Dani march away. He had no idea what to do.
“I see you don’t learn from your mistakes,” Zeke said.
