“Sounds fun. Bring me back something good.” Ru jokes.

Ru

She met a guy and is going on a date with him. This is good. This is right. I need to be doing the same.

I’m in my forties, and I want to settle down with someone. The bachelor’s life was fun, but I think fifteen years of it has become boring and lonesome. I want to wake up with my wife in my arms. I’m ready. All that is left is to find her.

Later that day, Taurus got ready for her date. She was dressed in a gold satin dress that hugged her curves from top to bottom. Her curls were picked up in an elegant bun. She looked like royalty.

I give her my keys and tell her to meet him at the place instead of him picking her up. It’s safe this way and she can leave whenever she wants.

Taurus

Ru is so generous to let me borrow his car. When I arrive at the restaurant, I saw Desmond sitting at the table waiting for me. He looked amazing and I feel incredibly optimistic about this.

He pulls out my chair, which is a good start. The restaurant is beautiful, the twinkling lights, the nearby cascading fountains.

“I’m honestly surprised that you agreed to this date.” He chuckles.

I squint my eye slightly, “Why is that?”

“You seem like the girl who doesn’t have too much time to waste on dates.”

Is it that obvious? “Yes, work always comes first for me. So, this is a subtle change of scenery.”

For the rest of dinner, we spent time talking about our lives and ideas.

“I didn’t get this.” Desmond says as the waiter sets it down.

“Our apologies, we will correct this for you.” The waiter takes the plate and scurries away.

“Seriously, how hard is it to get a fucking order right.” He mutters under his breath. “It’s not fucking rocket science.”

His words irritated me. It was a simple mistake, god he was fucking rude. I paid for the bill and left immediately. I returned quickly, wanting the night to be over.

Ru

Taurus walks through the door, which was weird because she was not gone that long.

“How was the date?” Why am I asking. I don’t want to know.

Suddenly, she looks at her phone and rolls her eyes. What the fuck did he do?

“Are you alright?” I ask cautiously.

She shrugs. “I’m starting to think I have the worst luck with men.” She laughs.

“One bad date is not the end of the world.” I insist.

She shakes her head, “It’s always been this way. That’s why I thought I struck gold with Greyson until of course, he fucked my mother.” She growls. “I don’t think I have ever had a boyfriend who treated me as if he could not possibly live without me. Fuck is that too much to ask for?”

“I hope you haven’t lost faith in all of us,” I say trying to lighten the mood. “Give me a few minutes.”

I run into my room, throw on a fresh suit, and comb my hair back. When I come back into the living room, I play some music and Van Morrison’s ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ comes on. “If you don’t mind, I would be honored to dance with a woman who is as elegant as you are.” My words bring a smile to her face.

“You don’t have to do this, Ru.” She laughs sweetly.

I kiss her hand and put it around my neck. “I want to. You are exquisite and should be worshiped accordingly.” She rests her head on my chest. I wonder if she can hear the beating of my heart, does my heart tell her the things I desperately want her to know?
