“I’m looking forward to it.” That is all I say.

“Good, now I can sleep at night.” Ms. Young sighs. “I’m heading back to China at the end of the week.”

“Okay,Ma. We will find something to do with you before you go.” Ru waves.

As soon as Ms. Young walks out of the house, I blurt out. “I think Greyson might have burned down my house.”

Ru puts the water bottle he was going to grab down, “How so?”

“Well, your mom and I stopped at his place, and he has my father’s letters, which I thought burned in the fire, in the drawer of his coffee table. Those were in my house before I left for dinner. I know this because I read my dad’s letters when I am about to do something big. That interview was big for me even though he turned out to be a disgusting creep.”

Ru

As his father, I just can’t believe that Greyson is capable of something like this. Why would he? I saw how distraught he was when he thought she was dead. He has no reason to do that. It must be her mother; she must have planted them there. He was still speaking to her and maybe they hooked up again and she planted them there. I just can’t even fathom that it would go that far.

“You don’t believe me?” Taurus asks.

“I do believe you, but I just can’t comprehend why he would do this.” I laugh softly, but not because I think it’s humorous. She nods, as she uncomfortably pulls at the ends of her hair. I grab her hand to stop her fidgeting. “I will find the underlying cause of this. Please trust me.” I raise her hand to my lips.

She pulls me into a soft kiss, that I wanted to last even longer, but she pulls away quickly. “I do.” The tone of her voice doesn't seem sure.

“My lawyer is already investigating the situation. I'll tell him what you found, and he will take care of it.” I reassure.

A sincere smile appears on her face this time and it puts me at ease, but a loud knock on the door interrupts us, and I realize that maybe we should look into getting a gate. Taurus runs to the door, and I follow. Her mother is standing outside.

Maybe we need to move.

Taurus

I look at Ru mortified. “I am sorry about this.”

Ru pulls me into a hug, “Do you want me to go out there for you?”

“No, she’s fucking crazy.” I groan.

Ru rests his forehead against mine. “Moving is sounding better and better.”

Jeez, he wants to move. God, I feel so bad. All my drama is making him uncomfortable and that’s all on me.

Ru must have seen the reaction on my face because he pushes my chin up to look at him. “I meantusmoving, Taurus.”

My eyes narrow, “What does that mean?”

Ru smirks, “What if living with me was more…permanent? We could find a new place together.”

“My crazed mother is at the door right now and you want me to move in permanently.” I laugh.

Ru slaps my ass gently as he holds me in his arms. “Taurus Maxwell, I want you and I to get a new place together with huge gates.”

I continue to laugh into his chest. “Okay.” I nod.

With a heavy sigh, I walk to the door and my mother is leaning against the wall. She doesn’t say anything at first, but that quickly ends after she exhales, “Why won’t you take this check?” She gripes.

“You can’t fix our relationship with a check. Why can’t you understand that?”

“And no one is a perfect parent, why can’tyouunderstandthat? Do you think when you’re a mother you will never mess up?”

I scoff, “There is a difference between fumbling as a parent and outright consistent abuse. Abuse is not an accident, and neither was sleeping with my fiancé. You chose to do these things because it’s all about you, right?”
