Greyson’s doctor comes back in, “Hi, there is a child that was taken along with Greyson. Can I see her?” I ask.
“What is your relation?” She asks.
“I’m her sister.”
Chapter 23
Taurus
The doctor took me to see the baby. Greyson was right, she looks exactly like him. She has his honey-brown eyes. This is his daughter…and my sister. This entire situation is completely strange, but I guess it’s right on brand for us at this point.
“Tiana Maxwell is perfectly healthy, but she is sleepy.” The doctor giggles.
“Tiana, you are such a cutie. I’m your big sister.It’snice to meet you.” I greet.
I put my finger near her hand, and she grips it with fierce strength.
“We are going to have a lot of fun together,” I promise.
The door opens and Ru comes into the room. “I never thought this is how I would be meeting my grandchild.” He chuckles. His thumb rubbed her head.
That’sright. This is his grandchild, his first grandchild. “You’re a grandfather…wow.” I laugh.
“Does that make you a step-grandmother to your sister?” He jokes.
I hold my head, “I don’t want to even think about it, it makes my head hurt.”
“The good thing is that she’s healthy.” He says as his arms wrap around me.
My eyes stay on her, “Does Greyson want her?”
“He does, I was surprised. He said, ‘She’s my responsibility, maybe she and I can grow up together.’ It was shocking to hear, but I’m proud that he’s growing.”
“Me too.”
Weeks Later
For the past few weeks, I worked on my designs to submit to L.A.N.C.H. It’s been about two weeks since I submitted my designs, and I haven’t heard anything back from them. They must have chosen a winner by now. The best thing about this contest is the deal you get to sign with them.You will be able to have your designs in their galleries. It's like your designs are immortal.
“Anything?” Ru yawns.
His fingers trace my back as I sit up in bed staring into my phone.
“Put it down. Staringwill notmake it come any faster.You aregoing to give yourself a headache that way.”
I turn around and crawl on top of him. “Okay, Daddy.” I playfully groan.
He gives my ass a spank and rubs it right after. “How do you feel?” He asks.
“Like my heart is glowing,” I answer truthfully.
We move into our new house tomorrow. We are leaving for New York and it’s all so fresh and new in my mind.
“Did you want to see her?”Her? He means my mother. Of course not. She tried to kill Greyson twice. I’m glad to be done and rid of her.
“No.” I simply reply.
“I don’t want you to see her either, but I also want you to be able to say whatever you need to before you close that chapter for good. I don’t want anything hanging on your heart.”
