Viktor pulls a gun out of his jacket and points it at Johnny’s head. Chaos erupts around us as several other men stand up and point their guns at Viktor. I squeak and step away from Viktor, hoping I don’t get caught up in the crossfire.

“Give me the rest of my money, Johnny, and we won’t have a problem.”

“Or we can just shoot you,” a tall, bear-like man says near me. I jump.

“Casey, shut up,” Johnny hisses at him. “We need Viktor, remember?”

Casey narrows his eyes at Viktor. “Well, I don’t like him. I say we be done with him.”

“You don’t want to do that.” Viktor points his gun at Casey. “Now, I need Johnny because he’s in charge of the money. But you …” Viktor rakes his eyes over Casey. “You’re just hired muscle without a brain.”

“Fuck you.” As Casey lifts his gun, Viktor fires. I gasp when something hot and slick lands on my face and dress. It’s Casey’s blood.

Casey sways on his feet before falling back, dead, a bullet hole in his brain. I shake and stare at the blood covering me, staining my white wedding dress. Then, it becomes even more chaotic. The men of this motorcycle club have taken it upon themselves to get rid of Viktor for me. They fire at Viktor, but Viktor is already ducking behind the bar and dragging me down with him. Bottles explode, raining shards of glass on us.

“What. The fuck. Were youthinking?” I hiss at him, my shock disappearing to focus on the new predicament at hand. I’m stuck behind a bar, avoiding waves of gunshots, all because Viktor decided to kill a man. I shouldn’t be surprised. Viktor loves killing people.

But still.

Viktor just laughs as he crawls toward the door behind the car. “Who doesn’t love a little bloodshed to christen a marriage, huh?” I follow. I came in with Viktor, so these men might want to kill me, too. Even though I want to escape my deranged kidnapper, Viktor is the only way I’m surviving this right now.

He ducks into the new room, slamming the door behind us. Footsteps come barreling towards the door. Men shout and pound on the door, but doesn’t open. I stay low as Viktor stands up, surveying the room. It’s a broom closet.

“What are we going to do?” I ask, covering my head in case the men start raining more gunfire on us.

“I have a plan.”

“Unless you plan on using a duster as a weapon, I don’t think you have much of a plan.”

“Just watch.” He pushes one of the shelves away to reveal another door behind. “Once you plan your own secret hideout, it’s easy to spot others.” He opens the door, motioning me inside. Once the door closes behind us, I manage to stand up. As I look around, I freeze.

The new room is full of guns. From machine guns to rifles to shotguns to pistols.

“Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me,” I mutter.

Viktor laughs as he pulls a machine gun off the wall. “These bastards are stupid to keep their guns out in the open like this. Who knows when a madman will come knocking on their door.” He winks as he loads the weapon.

I hear the men finally break through the closet door.

“You’re just going to kill all these men?”

Viktor shrugs, aiming the gun at the door. “Yeah. Why not?”

“Because you had a deal with them!”

“And they short-changed me. I don’t do business with petty thieves.”

The door bursts open, and a big, burly man runs inside only to be gunned down by Viktor’s machine gun. He laughs manically as he puts round after round of bullets into the men of the motorcycle club. It dawns on me then that I don’t even know what this club is called.

The men stop coming forward, realizing they won’t get Viktor that way. In the pause, Viktor runs back out into the main room, firing into the rest of the men. I watch in horror as more bodies fall to the ground, blood covering the floor and walls. Women scream and duck behind the couches. Viktor leaves them alone at least, his sights set on the men who tried to screw him over.

Once they’re all dead, Viktor lowers the gun. The silence almost hurts my ears. Viktor turns to me, surrounded by dead bodies and covered in blood himself. “So, shall we go to our wedding?”

I blink and take in the destruction around me before slumping forward, falling into Viktor’s arms.
