“Well, those knives you got the mates were so special. I’d love to have one of those. Do you think I could order one of them? For my birthday maybe?”

He frowned and sighed, rolling his eyes up to the ceiling like he did sometimes. But then he kissed my cheek, so I knew I had it made. “I’ll see about it.”

“You’re the best omak ever.”

“Uh huh. I know what you’re doing, you know.”

“Who, me?”

Father came up behind me and laid a heavy hand on my neck. “Are you over here trying to get more gifts out of your omak?”

“Why would you think that, Father?”

“Because your lips were moving. Now get out of here and go eat Christmas dinner. I have something to talk to your omak about.”

“Again? I mean, yes, sir. I’m leaving.”

I did but lingered near the door to eavesdrop a little. I knew they were going to discuss me, and I wasn’t disappointed.

“That boy is just a younger version of you. Only even more spoiled and with a worse attitude, and I didn’t think that was possible. He’s been trouble from the day he was born.”

“Hey! I resent that.”

“Oh, I’m sure you do.” Father peered down at him. “Are you sure you’re all right, nobyo?”

“Perfect, now that you’re home.”

“Oh?” Davos lowered his head to do more of that kissing again. “Tell me more.”

“Come closer, and I’ll tell you all you need to know.”

Since there was just going to be a lot more of the kissing stuff, I went in to eat my Christmas dinner and left them to it.

The End
