He cocks an eyebrow at him, waiting for a response.

“Nothing,” Ethan mumbles, pushing past his brother and into the living room. The door closes again, and it’s just me and Elliot.

He brings his inquisitive stare to me. “Was he with you?”

I shake my head, unsure why I’m doing what Ethan said. “I was in the bathroom. I just saw him come out of his room.”

I’m not sure if he believes me. Elliot is smart, cunning. It’s not easy to lie to him. But before he can keep going, I notice the object in his hands.

“No.” My voice is firm. He is not putting those on me.

“Oh, yes. That’s two interactions with the Kings, and two fights in one night. You clearly can’t be trusted to roam around freely.”

I take a step back. “Don’t you fucking dare.”

“Jade, baby. Don’t confuse me with Ethan. He’s weak for you. I’m not.”

I shake my head so intensely I make myself dizzy. “It’s because I didn’t take your fucking deal, isn’t it? You’re such an asshole, Elliot.”

“Ah, maybe I’m a little hurt.” He shrugs. “Or maybe I think you just need more convincing.”

He pounces on me, grabbing my arm and slamming me against the wall. “Fuck off,” I shriek as he grabs both my wrists.

“That fucking mouth,” he growls. “It’s going to get you in serious trouble one day.”

He wraps a cuff around my right wrist, then my left, my hands now safely secured behind my back.

“I hate you,” I grit out, my cheek against the wall. “I swear I’m going to kill you in your sleep.”

“With your hands cuffed behind your back?” he mocks me. “I don’t think so. Come on now. Trot back to the living room and let’s see if I can make you change your mind about that deal. Maybe a little time with your old crew will show you how much you need my protection.”

When I don’t move, he sighs. Like a parent who doesn’t want to have a go at their kid, but who knows it’s coming. “Go back to the living room, Jade.”

“Don’t tell me what to do,” I snap back.

Damn, I really have no survival instincts.

He pulls me away from the wall, holding me by my upper arm as he drags me back to the party.

“Jade, baby, I think you’ll be doingexactlywhat I tell you to do from now on.”

All the Things I Hate About You - Huddy

I wonder if Jade gave that man her consent to play with her however he wants.

Stan.

What did he do to keep her? Apart from helping her stay away from us. Was it a monthly payment? Or just whatever she wanted she’d get? Did he bring her to fancy restaurants? He’s clearly a rich motherfucker who can afford anything. He probably bought her thousand-dollar dresses for the charity balls he took her to. And she’d do anything he wanted in the car on the way there. At the event. On the way back. At home.

My shoulders tense at the girl who keeps putting her hands on my chest while she talks. She’s sitting right next to me on the sofa, but my eyes are on Jade kneeling on the floor in front of me. I can’t look away from her glaring at me.

No one has done anything yet, just observing and daring each other to do something in the last five minutes I’ve put her there.

I just need one person to scare the shit out of her and she’ll be begging me to offer that deal again.
