“Get out!” she says.

“What?”

“Get out of my fucking car, now, Liam,” she screams.

“No,” I tell her.

“You can’t sayno. Get out!” she screams louder this time.

I still don’t get out, though. Instead, I lean over the center console, wrap a hand around the back of her neck, and pull her lips onto mine. My fingers dig into her hair as my mouth devours hers. Claiming her, showing her exactly who the fuck she belongs to. And it isn’t whatever fucker she left behind to come get me tonight.

I’ve been patient. I’ve waited, but now I’m done. I know she wants this just as much as I do. What I don’t know is what’s holding her back. I’ve tried to figure it out, trust me. I’m done waiting for her to get out of her head. Now I’m going to drag her out of it, one orgasm at a time.

“Pull the car over, Aliyah,” I tell her, putting just enough distance between us that she knows I’m serious. She swallows, and her hands tremble as they return to the wheel. Then she does as she’s told, maneuvering the car to the side of the road and putting it in park. “Turn it off,” I say.

Aliyah looks across to me. “We… we can’t, Liam,” she says, her voice shaky.

“Aliyah, turn the car off,” I repeat.

She sighs, closes her eyes, and hits the button that switches the ignition off. I unbuckle my seat belt before I reach over and undo hers. Then I pick her up and lift her over the center console, depositing her onto my lap. Cupping her face in both hands, I bring my lips to hers again, more gentle this time. She’s still hesitant. I can feel her holding back. My thumb rubs up and down her jawline. And then I move my hands down to her waist, tugging her core into the hardness of my cock. Aliyah lets out a moan and I smile into the kiss.

Pulling back slightly, I look at her. “Tell me again how you don’t want this.”

“I never said I didn’t want it. I saidwe can’t. Andwe shouldn’t. This isn’t going to end well.”

“Wecanand we most certainly fuckingshould,” I tell her before my lips meet hers for a second time. Regretfully, I have to pull away again. “But not here.” I open the door of the car, lift her into my arms, step out, and then turn around and set her on the passenger seat. “I’m driving. You’re in no condition to be behind the wheel.” I close the door and jog around to the front of her car. As soon as I start the ignition, I glance back over to Aliyah. She looks like she’s in shock. I reach over and thread my fingers with hers. “You doin’ okay over there, princess?” I ask her.

“Uh-huh. What…? What just happened?” She’s staring straight ahead at nothing.

“We just sealed the deal. You’re mine now,” I tell her.

“I can’t be yours, Liam.”

“Hate to break it to ya, princess, but you already are, so youcanbe.”

“No, you don’t understand. He’ll kill you,” she says.

“Who?”

“My father, one of my brothers—take your pick.”

“Babe, I’m not afraid of your family. Let them come at me.” I tell her what she needs to hear, because it’s obvious she’s scared. Truth is… so am I. I’d be mad not to be terrified of that family. But I’ve never let something like a little fear stop me before.

“You say that now. But I’m not worth the risk,” she says.

“You, Aliyah Monroe, are worth every bit of risk there is. Why would you even say that?”

“Because it’s true,” she whispers. By this point, she’s turned her head to stare out the passenger window. But I can tell she’s stuck in her head and not really looking at anything in particular. I need to do something about this girl’s self-esteem. How can someone so fucking confident in life be so insecure when it comes tothis? To being desirable? Wanted?

I drive to my apartment and park in the underground garage. We both sit in silence, neither one of us making a move to leave. Eventually, I do get out, walk around to her side of the car, and open the door. Her hands are still shaky when she places one in mine. I pull her out of the car, but don’t let go of that hand, even after she’s standing. I don’t like that she’s so unsure about this. I had planned to bring her back here, take her to my bed, and show her just how fucking perfect we can be together. I want to worship the fuck out of that body of hers. I want to do things that will ensure she never has doubts about us again.

I don’t want to do any of it while she’s so uncertain, though. She needs to want it enough to not care what anyone else thinks. She needs to get to where I’m at.

“You can have the spare room,” I tell her when we enter the apartment.

Aliyah’s head whips to the side, her gaze boring into me. “What?” she asks, confused.

“You don’t want this, Aliyah, and that’s okay. I’ll just have to wait until you do,” I tell her.
