“I missed you more. You have no idea. I’ve cried myself to sleep most nights hugging your shirt.”
“My beautiful baby. It feels so good to just hold you. I’m half a soul when I’m far from you, Aria.”
He held me in his arms while I stared at his handsome face, caressing him.
“Was this whole ‘emergency’ a setup?”
“I’d like to think of it as a sentimental gesture.”
“I still can’t believe you’re really here.” I kissed him softly, hugging the life out of him.
“Need…air…Aria…”
“Sorry!”
Easing my grip, I held his face and let our lips melt, relaxing in his protective energy.
“Are you gonna… let me explain?” Noah laughed between kisses.
“You have my undivided attention.”
“Long story short… I closed the case earlier than expected.”
“So, bringing me here for that case file was—”
“A white lie. I could tell you were panicking as soon as I mentioned the fax machine.” Noah chuckled.
“You are so devious!”
“My intentions were good. I’m just happy to hold you again.”
His brilliant sea eyes bore right into me, reflecting love, passion, and desire at the same time. He always took my breath away.
“Please tell me you won’t be leaving the country soon.” I pouted.
“Trust me, I don’t plan on it. The only time I’ll be flying out of here is in December withyou… to Italy.”
“You’ve made me the happiest woman in the world right now.”
“I know a hundred different ways I can make you happier tonight.” His crooked grin was so sexy as he picked me up and threw me over his shoulder.
“Put me down! I need to be at Evan’s photo exhibit tonight!”
“Call and cancel,” he said, marching into the living room.
“I can’t. I promised him I’d be there. Please don’t make me go back on my word. I never break my promises.”
Noah seemed reluctant to listen, but eventually stopped. Releasing a heavy sigh, he placed me back on my feet.
“Do I really have to share you tonight?”
“I’m afraid so.”
He smothered my neck in kisses and squeezed me in his arms.
“Noah…” I giggled. “I’m serious. I’m already running late.”
“I heard you”—he glided his lips to my shoulders—“we’ll go together.”
