Page 67 of Hold Me Tight

He covers my mouth again, kissing me, still moving relentlessly inside me as my back slaps against the wall in time with his thrusts. It’s too much and I shatter, gasping his name against his mouth.

“Oh babe,” he smirks against my mouth, “you’ll be moaning that name all night long.”

I grin at his cheekiness, but I’m distracted, moaning as he picks up the pace, chasing his own release. Tim groans, slumping against me, crushing me against the wall. My arms wrap around him. I could stay like this forever. Of course, Tim has different ideas. Kissing me languidly, he walks us to the bed, tipping me onto it, coming down between my legs again to engage in a long, slow make-out session until my whole body feels like jelly.

When I’m not sure if I want to fall asleep or come, Tim grabs my wrists, holding them up over my head as he sinks into me again.

“I love you so much, Angie,” he whispers as he loves me slowly and thoroughly before tucking me up in his arms while he stares at my face, stroking my cheek softly with his fingers.

“You know, I’ve put a lot of thought into how I was going to act when I saw you again.”

I look over at his conversational tone and smile, raising an eyebrow.

“What I would say to you,” he continues. I’m listening.

“And?” I prompt him with a cheeky grin. “What did you decide you would say?”

“That I love you,” he replies promptly, which has my heart both clenching and singing simultaneously. “That I missed you.”

I giggle at his earnestness. Maybe it’s because I’m still on cloud nine, but everything seems funnier.

“Well, you did indeed say both those things….”

“That I want to marry you,” Tim whispers, his eyes burning into mine. My giggles abruptly die off and I’m left staring at him, my mouth dropping open slightly, my brain completely empty.

We lie here, staring at each other for heaven knows how long until my brain restarts. And it restarts with a vengeance. Thought after thought barrels through. I want to say yes. I want to say yes more than I’ve wanted anything else in the entire world.

But what about my job? Bill lives in Chicago. Tim lives and works here in San Diego. I can’t still be Bill’s PA if I live here with Tim. Maybe Bill will give me a different job? Og god, what if Bill sees this as me overstepping some arbitrary line? I mean, I know he was okay with us having a holiday fling at Christmas in England. And I know that he’s been amazingly okay with my moping about since we left. Butmarryinghis eldest nephew is a whole different ball game.

Plus, there’s the fact that his parents really, reallydon’t approve. I mean, they were polite to me after Tim broke the news to them that we were sleeping together back in Kent. But they were still distant and cold toward me. Like they definitely thought I was overstepping some arbitrary line. That setting my sights on someone like their son was out of the question.

Oh, shit. Tim is still watching me, looking tortured now that my silence has stretched out so much. Enough to make things kind of awkward. I sit up in bed, tugging the sheets up to cover my chest. It feels strange to have this conversation naked. Tim moves to mirror me, looking worried.

“Angie? Is everything okay? Did I overstep? I’m sorry.”

I place my fingers on his lips, and he falls silent, staring out at me with almost haunted eyes.

“I want to say yes more than anything, Tim. I really do,” I whisper as hope blooms behind his eyes.

“Then say yes,” he whispers back, removing my fingers from his mouth and tangling them with his own.

“But what about what your family will think? What Bill will think?”

Tim blinks at me uncomprehendingly, and laughs. Okay. That’s a weird reaction.Hemight not have to worry about what Bill thinks, but I do. “I’m pretty sure that Bill will be okay with it.”

I’m now the one blinking uncomprehendingly. “How can you know that?”

“Because when you went to the restroom at lunch today, I showed him the ring I bought you. He approved.”

I stare at him, unsure what to say, what tofeel? This isn’t a spur-of-the-moment thing. He had the ring before today.Billhas seen it. Bill knows Tim was planning to propose. And he approves? That’s… I can’t think about that right now. I’ll cry.

“W-what about your family?”

Tim shrugs. “Mom’s so desperate for grandchildren, I’m pretty sure I could present her with an alien wearing my ring and she’d be overjoyed.”

Okay, that’s a visual. That’s also not the only thing at stake.

“What about my job?”
