A flurry of emotion plays over her face too fast for me to pick up on all of them. She settles with a mixture of hope and trepidation. A crease between her brows wrinkles her nose ever so slightly, while her brown eyes brim with expectancy.

“I know I’m not a prize, and I’ll be more work than I’m worth. But every part of me is in love with you. I fell as soon as you signed that contract without reading it. And each moment since has only made it grow. Fear held me back, but not now.”

She swallows. “I think I’m going to need some actions to back up these words,” she replies, her eyes dipping to my lips as she licks her own.

I sway toward her, unconsciously closing the distance between us, and her hands drop to my shoulders. Her chin tilts up, and her mouth parts on a soft breath. It is all the permission I need before I’m kissing her, or she’s kissing me. I’m not sure who moved first.

The soft slide of our lips against each other lasts for a moment before her tongue delves into my mouth, seeking mine out. They tangle as my arms draw her closer. Soon, she is in my lap, and we are kissing like teenagers between two stools beneath the kitchen island.

CHAPTER53

Audrey

“I thinkthe thought of losing you hurts more than anything I’ve ever experienced and if you try to walk away–I can’t promise my alpha wouldn’t find you and lock you up until you change your mind.”

Austin watches me, his face dead serious, and I can’t help the laugh that burst from my chest. It isn’t a laughing matter, but the fact he is admitting all of this to me, it is bubbling many emotions to the surface.

“Without you, I would cease to exist, Audrey. Bratty omega and all. I need you in my life to push me and challenge me,” he says. His voice drops with his emotion, and it grabs hold of my heart and squeezes. I’m not the only one to challenge him. I’ve seen Saint and Felix do it.

“Saint and Felix…”

“Are not you,” he cuts me off.

And I believe him. I want to believe him, anyway. But it is like I’m two halves of the same person. One part wants to dive headfirst into this second chance for us, and the other is afraid he will rip it all away once he gets between my legs again. His violet eyes swirl with intensity as he watches me. It makes me feel like the only person in the world.

“I know I’m not a prize, and I’ll be more work than I’m worth. But every part of me is in love with you. I fell as soon as you signed that contract without reading it. And each moment since has only made it grow. Fear held me back, but not now.”

My heart attempts to jump through my throat. Helovesme. He has loved me since the start. I want to throw myself into his arms and jump headfirst into the hope that is blooming like a rare flower inside of me. I hold myself still as my gaze drops to his lips.

“I think I’m going to need some actions to back up these words.”

His eyes hood as he looks at my lips and moves closer because of my words. I can barely catch my breath as I run my fingers over his shoulders and press my lips to his. This moment is everything. His thumb glides over my jaw, and I part my lips, seeking more.

A whimper builds in my chest, and I wrap my legs around him, climbing into his lap to get the closeness I crave. He’s hard beneath me, and I move over him, seeking friction. The sinful groan that flows from his lips gives me life. If I could record that sound, I could definitely get off on it when I am alone. But who needs to get off on it alone when the real thing is running his large hands over my back and pulling me closer.

His hands find skin between the bottom of my tank top and the hem of my shorts, and he drags his warm palms up my sides beneath my shirt. All while nipping my lower lip with soft love bites. Before he can work my tank top over my head, a throat clears, and I’m jerked straight back to reality.

Our kiss ends, and I’m left staring at Austin, my chest rising and falling with rapid breaths. His warm hands are still beneath my shirt, fingers flexing into my skin as if he is debating carrying me from the room and away from whoever interrupted us.

“What are you two doing on the floor beneath the island?” Felix asks, his voice full of humor.

Austin groans, but not one of his pleasure-filled ones I am addicted to. “What did it look like we were doing?” he asks as he leans his head back against the counter, pulling me with him as he shifts.

“I wasn’t asking why you were going at it like a couple of horn dogs. I was asking why you were doing it there,” Felix clarifies with a laugh.

“You’re right, we will take this some place more comfortable.”

I yelp in surprise as he unfolds and misses knocking his head on the countertop by inches while still holding onto me, my legs wrapped around him and my arms clinging to his shoulders. He strides toward the hall without another word, and I peek over his shoulder at a grinning Felix.

My stomach tumbles as Austin kicks his bedroom door shut behind us and carries me to his bed, laying me down before following. He presses his weight onto me, and I arch up into him, needing more.

“Is this okay?” he whispers.

“Yes, more than okay,” I whisper back.

He kisses my nose, then my cheek, followed by just beneath my ear, and down my neck. He licks the unmarked skin between Saint and Felix’s marks, breathing his warm breath over after. “This spot is mine, just like you are mine,” he growls.

And just like that, I’m fire. My blood is lava, and the rest of me is ready to set fire to a forest. I’m not sure if my clothes just combust or if I’m just that far gone. But when his thick head settles between my legs, I’m more than ready.
