My eyes widen as I search the crowd for them. I don’t see either of my guys, though, so I’m sure they missed the melt down.

“Then I guess we should head the other direction, because I want the pleasure of taking him out.”

He drops his hands to my shoulders, squeezing softly. “You are the most stubborn omega I’ve ever met. We can leave.”

“And let him win?” I say, not expecting an answer. It isn’t really a game for either of us to win, but mentally, if I run, who am I?

“If that is what you want, let me be your anchor tonight. I’ll keep you steady.” He wraps his arm around me again, effortlessly turning us in the opposite direction. “I know what it’s like to be cornered with seemingly no escape. Especially at parties.”

CHAPTER57

Saint

When I returnfrom the bathroom, Felix and Audrey have wandered off. I scan the area and don’t see them. Before I can do a search, Melody Lynn steps into my field of vision. She smooths her gloved hands down her pink dress, looking like a vision for any omega searching for an alpha.

“Saint, where is your lovely omega?” she asks and looks around as if Audrey will pop up from behind the table and say, ‘here I am’.

I press my lips together. Melody Lynn isn’t a bad person. She is a big personality that I don’t have time for at the moment, though, so I give a noncommittal shrug.

“Oh, have you lost her?” She pouts. “Or are you setting up for the heist?” she asks, lowering her voice as if she was part of the plan.

“There is no heist.” I slip my hands into my blazer pockets and rock back on my heels, flicking my gaze over the party goers nearby.

She throws her head back and laughs. “Maybe not for you, but I’ve met that omega of yours. I’ll bet even if Austin canceled it, she is still going to make a play for it.”

I snap my eyes back to Melody Lynn. “Why do you think that?”

“Love makes you do dangerous things. Don’t you think?” She cocks her head to the side. Propping her hand on her waist, she glances around like she is ready to spill a secret, she licks her glossy lips as she parts them, then adds, “A birdie told me she is a long lost De Luca princess, and her dragon that needs slayed is Jason Vonross. Well, he’s here, and he knows she is too. You really should keep better track of your omega.”

The blood drains from my face, making me feel light-headed. “Who told you that?”

“It doesn’t matter, Saint, find your omega,” she replies and steps out of my way. “Good luck,” she calls to my back as I stride away, searching the area.

I don’t see either of them. But there are other rooms, other areas, so I barely contain my strides, so I’m not all out running as I enter the next one. Austin is in the middle of a group of old money business men schmoozing away, but one look at me, and he stops mid-sentence and breaks away from them.

“What happened? Where is Audrey?” he asks as soon as he reaches me.

“Felix has her, but Melody Lynn just basically said she is in danger. We have to find her.”

I’m sure we look like a pair of charging bulls in a china shop as we search the next room. People move out of our way, and all eyes seem to watch us as we come up with no sign of them again. Once we reach the last room, I’m on edge. I can feel it in my stomach that something is wrong.

Felix stands alone near the window, and every single one of my fears grows wings and batters my stomach for release.

“Where is Audrey?” I ask as we stop in front of him. It feels as though the air is being cut off, and I crack my knuckles as I tighten them into fists. I need to fight something.

Felix looks between us, the smile on his face fading. “She went to the bathroom a couple of minutes ago.” He gestures to the bathroom not even five feet from where he is standing, and I relax slightly.

“We have to go,” I say.

“Yeah, probably for the best. She caught sight of Vanross, and she—I don’t know, shut down. She was terrified. That bastard did some horrible shit to her if just the sight of him brought on her reaction.”

“You saw Jason? Did he see you? Did he see Audrey?” I ask, my muscles tensing all over again.

Felix rolls his lip ring between his teeth, trapping the ball. “I don’t think he did.”

I tug my fingers through my hair and look at the bathroom door, tempted to go inside to make sure she is okay. Austin looks the same.

He glances at his watch. “Was she just using the restroom?”
