Felix hashis feet propped up on the couch when I return. Saint stops pacing near the door and wraps me in his arms.
“Austin said you went to see him,” he mutters. “We could have taken you.”
I pull back and frame his face with my palms with a smile. “You needed a break from omega sitting. I think you are going as crazy as me.”
“We almost lost you,” he says.
“But you didn’t.”
“If your brother–”
“Who is also an omega,” I point out.
He sighs and drags his fingers through his hair. “I just wish I could have brought Jason back to life so I could torture him.”
I snort. Who knew I’d fall for someone exactly like my father? He always wanted to protect us, only his way of protecting was a little extreme. Scaring away all the boys he thought weren’t good enough was a sport for him back then. And maybe if it hadn’t been, he would still be here. I shake myself out of the morbid thoughts and focus on Saint.
“Me too,” I admit. “But can we stop this mother hen hovering?”
He wraps his hands around the back of my neck and presses a kiss to my forehead. “No promises, but I’ll try to ease up.”
Felix laughs, and I pull away from Saint to look at him. “Saint doesn’t know how not to be protective, and you’ve activated the alpha protection mode in him. It is a good thing he didn’t promise.”
“Where is your alpha protection mode?” I ask, propping my hands to my hips I lift my eyebrows as he toys with the ring in his lip.
He twists his lips as he holds in a grin. “I’m sure it will activate at some point, but right now, all I can think about every time you are around is stripping you naked and knotting you.”
My stomach flutters at his crass words as slick prepares for just that between my thighs. “Well, that is perfect then, because I’m pretty sure my heat is almost here.”
He pops off the couch like an excited puppy and bounds over to us. “Then it will be official.” He fingers the ring of marks on my neck, and I nibble on my lip at the anticipation coursing through me.
I yelp when his arms sweep my feet from under me, and he carries me back to the couch with him. He settles back on the soft surface with me in his lap. Saint follows and sinks to the couch next to us.
Felix points the controller at the tv stand, and the TV slowly drops from the ceiling. The “Omega in Paradisefinale was the other night. You want to watch?”
I smile into his neck. I have my own sort of omega paradise right here, but I would never pass up my favorite show. We settle in for the next two hours watching the perfect ending. Grace came out the winner, and her pack adored her. I’m not sure why I had always been so blind to that result, that it wasn’t just the omega who was head over heels, it was the entire pack too.
As the credits roll, I nuzzle into Felix’s neck, inhaling his salty ocean breeze musk. Mixed with the leather and lemons of Saint's was almost perfect, I was only missing Austin’s fall scents. As if my thoughts conjured him out of thin air, the door swings open, and he strides in with a grin on his face.
“I couldn’t work. So I’m taking the day, and I’ve cleared the entire week of appointments, including the one with Gary, he was understanding, said first heats are special and to take all the time we need. A plane will be ready to go when we make it to the airport.” His words are a whirlwind, and I sit up watching him as he comes around the couch. “Why are you three just watching me? We are going someplace warm with crystal blue water and private over the water huts for Audrey’s first heat.”
I clamp down on my lower lip as excitement rushes through me. “You don’t have to do that, the apartment is fine, more than fine.”
“As much as Saint plans on protecting you, I am going to pamper you, and you’re going to humor me and let me do it. After coming into my life and bulldozing every single one of my fears, taking you someplace nice for your heat is the very least I can do. I looked it up, a lot of packs go to the resort for heats, it is secure and discreet.”
