Dean clears his throat, and my gaze snaps to his. His brow furrows, but he says, “Water and coffee, please.”

Felix looks up from the menu and smiles at the waitress. “Cola, light ice. I can’t do the breakfast drinks.”

She smiles politely and jots it down before leaving to retrieve our drink orders.

“Austin, you are going a little overboard,” Dean says.

“Am I?” he asks. “Gregory Chase is across the room. I’m sure this will be in the papers soon. And Valeri Underwood is right there.” He nods, and my gaze lands on an older woman who is watching us with a keen eye. “If there is no PDA, then there is no proof for them to write about.”

Right. Head on straight, Audrey, pretend—that is what it is. You can not lose your damn head on the first day of the first outing. Just channel Omega in Paradise, you can do this.

“Is that what this breakfast is about?” I ask. “You want the papers to write about your new romance?”

He grazes my earlobe with his teeth, and I almost launch myself out of my seat in surprise. If he wasn’t holding me down with his arm draped over my shoulders, I would have made sure they really have something to write about. “Yes.”

My cheeks heat again, but this time because I can feel the slick gathering between my legs. Not good. Abort.

Shrugging his touch off, I say, “I need to use the restroom.”

I scoot out of the booth on my side and flee them into the safety of the expensive powder room. Damn, I didn’t remember how expensive everything was in here. But then the last time I had been here, I didn’t know what living on the streets was like.

Experience changes everything. Gripping the porcelain sink, I stare into my doe brown eyes that look as bright as leaves changing color in the fall, and my cheeks that look rosy and happy. I was enjoying this. I am so screwed.

CHAPTER12

Felix

“You scared her,”I accuse the second she practically runs away from the table. “We will be lucky if she doesn’t sneak out.”

“She was enjoying it,” Austin replies as he unbuttons his jacket and smooths the blazer out.

“She looked terrified.”

“No, Austin is right, she was perfuming like crazy,” Saint replies. “But she smells unattached, so you might want to tone it down unless you want every alpha in this place clamoring to claim her.”

The waitress appears with our drinks, and we fall silent as she places everything down. She excuses herself, saying something about returning once our omega is back.If she comes back.

Austin leans back against the backrest, his gaze fixed on the exit for the bathrooms. I may not have the super sniffer my alphas did, but I am sure that Austin was enjoying himself, too.

“We need to fix the scent issue,” Austin says.

“You said,” I start, and he cuts me off with a look.

“I know what I said. But there are ways of marking someone without claiming them. Lots of alphas and omegas court each other, and they smell attached while they do it.”

“But that would require a shit ton being around each other,” Saint murmurs.

Austin shrugs, a smile playing at his lips. “Then I guess she should get used to it until this is finished. Because that girl is going everywhere with one of us.”

I suck my lip ring into my mouth and roll it between my teeth. “She’s really sweet. I like her.”

“That hellcat is anything but sweet.” Austin takes a sip of his OJ, dismissing my comment.

Saint chuckles. “Maybe if you treated her like a person and not a possession, she would show you that side of her personality.”

“Maybe I don’t need to see it to get the job done.”

“You’re being stubborn,” I point out. He scoffs and rolls his vibrant violet eyes. The gold is darker, and I’m not sure if it is the lighting in here or if Audrey is getting to him, too. Maybe we’ll ask her to really stay after all of this is done.
