Page 86 of The Darkness Within

It takes all my restraint when I slice into him again. He swings away from me again, squealing like a pig. Maybe I should get Audrey’s brother up here to exact some of his own revenge. I’m sure the omega would want to. Maybe it would ease the darkness that clings to him. With that thought in mind, I pull out my phone and message Felix, asking him to see if he can bring him in.

Might be a long shot, but giving her brother his own revenge felt like giving Audrey something, and I want to give her the whole fucking world. But first, I need to remove all the monsters.

After a while, Felix arrives with Audrey’s brother in tow. The omega eyes me as he comes into the room, hesitating only a moment, his gaze flowing from the red-tipped scalpel between my fingers to the man I’ve been slicing.

“This is Saint,” Felix says through introduction. His face drains of color as he takes in the now unconscious man. The man was surprisingly weak, and it took little before he succumbed to the darkness.

“Sin,” he says with a nod.

I grin because if I am going to team up with anyone, it should be a man named ‘Sin’. “Well, Sin, this monster here is the first of many presents if you are so inclined. I believe he has a lesson to learn and thought you’d be the best teacher.”

His gaze glimmers with the same darkness that lurks in his sister's eyes. And he steps forward, selecting a tool that removes nails from fingertips off of the tray.

“Let’s wake him up,” he purrs.

Felix drags a chair over the metal floor and sinks into it. “You don’t have to stay for this. I know how you are with blood and torture.”

“I’m staying. Watching the monsters that hurt our girl feel even the tiniest bit of pain is the highlight of my day.”

“This is the highlight of your day?” I cock an eyebrow at him as a grin spreads over my lips. The highlight of my day was feasting between Audrey’s legs, but that isn’t something I will say in front of her brother.

He scoffs and meets my gaze. “Well–”

The monster’s scream interrupts whatever he was going to say. And we both turn back to Sin as he tears off another fingernail. Where Audrey was quick with her anger and striking the man the other night down. Sin is methodical. Like he has dreamt of this moment since they escaped that hell.

“Wakey, wakey,” he murmurs. “I’ve come to play.”

If I thought the man tried to get away from me earlier, as soon as his wide eyes land on Sin, he scrambles away as much as he can. Sin just grins, perching on the edge of a chair he had pulled over to reach the man’s fingers.

“Do you remember the day you caused this scar?” Sin lifts his shirt, and his finger traces a horizontal scar that could only mean one thing. They removed his ability to have children with an alpha. A shiver skates down my spine. What horrors did they face at the hands of these monsters? “Ah, yes, there is that recognition. The highlight of your fucking day, wasn’t it?” He laughs. “Unfortunately for you, I wear a constant reminder, so I haven’t forgotten either.”

With that, he rips off the man’s thumbnail. Blood drips from his fingertips as Sin removes one after another. When he’s dropped the last nail to the floor, he hops down from the chair and places the tool back on the tray, picking up another one.

He slices his pants down each side, leaving them hanging from his ankles. “Do you want to know the true pain I felt?” he asks. Using the blade, he slices the boxers from the guy, baring him to the room. His dick shriveled and hiding like a fucking turtle. Sin reaches out and cups the monster’s balls in his hand.

“No, man, don’t do this. Christ. No,” the coward begs.

It’s useless. I can see it in the way Sin holds the blade, and I know what he is going to do before he even moves. The scream that echoes off the walls has me wincing as Sin slices the sack clean from his body. Blood flows down his legs, and he convulses.

Sin lifts a brow and turns back to the tray, reaching for the heat clamp, made for stopping blood and cauterizing wounds. “Can’t have you die on me. Not when I’m just getting started.”

The scent of burnt skin fills the air, and Felix looks green. I chuckle and lean against the counter, waiting to see what else Sin wants to do. The man blacks out as the bleeding stops. Sin purses his lips and puts the heat clamp back down.

Then he looks at me. “You smell like my sister. You both do, but you smell like you rolled around in her slick and didn’t wash it off.”

I laugh, the sound coming out in a surprised huff. “You are straightforward.”

“If you hurt her, what I’m doing to this man will seem like child’s play.” The darkness, mixing with the madness, tells me he would follow through.

“Noted.”

“We scent matched with her. We aren’t going anywhere,” Felix adds, and I’m not sure if he is saying that out loud so her brother knows we are for real or so he doesn’t change his mind and torture us as soon as he is done with the guy.

“I bet she is hating that. Scent matching to three alphas. She didn’t even want one.”

“We know,” I rumble, a slight growl coming out at the idea that she had tried to walk away.

“If I know my sister, she is planning her escape, so if you want to truly keep her, be ready when she runs.”
