“I don’t know,” I said wondering if Titus knew I was here.

That couldn’t be it, right? I didn’t tell him I was coming. Did Quin? I definitely couldn’t ask either of them that. Not after treating Titus like I had.

Whatever it was that was inspiring Titus’s play kept inspiring it. The guy had four sacks by halftime. If ten was considered a lot over multiple games, then four in the first half had to be insane.

“Who’s Titus showing off for?” I joked as we left for hotdogs at halftime.

“You think he’s showing off for someone?” Quin asked.

“I’m just saying he’s playing well.”

“So is Sey,” he said cheerfully.

That’s right, I had a fiancé and he was playing too.

“Yeah. Definitely. But… I mean, Titus, right?”

I was sure that I wasn’t giving away my feelings for him. Titus was on fire. It was the most impressive thing I’ve ever seen on a football field. Granted, I’m not a football fan, so I haven’t seen a lot. But, damn. Titus was amazing.

The second half of the game mirrored the first. Even though the other team seemed to change their strategy to stop him, Titus got four more sacks by the end of the game. I had no idea he had that in him. It had to be the hottest thing I had ever seen. I couldn’t begin to figure out why, but it was.

“Did Sey want to go grab something to eat?” Quin asked me after the game.

Grabbing something to eat after the game was a tradition for our group whenever we came to watch one of our boyfriends’ play. Last year I didn’t go to any because, you know, it’s football. But when Quin would tell me about it afterward, it always sounded like fun.

“I texted him. He didn’t say.”

“We could meet him at the player’s exit.”

“You figured out where it is?” I asked remembering the first game we saw together and how we circled the place for an hour after trying to find it.

Quin laughed. “I’ve been to a lot of games since then.”

“Okay. Lead the way,” I said ushering him ahead of me.

Snaking through a couple of corridors, we exited the back of the stadium in front of the player’s parking lot. It took a few minutes but Sey was one of the first to exit. He was with teammates. They looked like they were having a good time after their win. Seeing me, Sey came over.

“Lou, what are you doing here?” he said kissing me in front of his friends. I liked that.

“Quin and I were going to grab something to eat and were wondering if you wanted to join us.”

“Didn’t I text you back? One of the guys from the team is having something. I would invite you, but it’s kind of a team-only thing.”

“Oh,” I said disappointed.

“I’m sorry, Babe. I’ll make it up to you. I swear. Let’s get dinner tomorrow,” he said cheerfully.

“Yeah. Sure,” I told him trying to hide my disappointment.

“Great! And, did you like the win? It was for you,” he said cockily.

“Yeah. Thanks.”

“Okay. Talk to you later,” he said giving me another kiss before catching up with his teammates.

“He has a team thing he has to go to,” I explained to Quin.

“Oh. I was going to say that we should ask Titus but if they have a team thing, he probably has to go to it as well.”
