I stood in front of him, and he held me, wrapping his arms around my waist and pressing his cheek against my soft Henley. I bent and took his face in my hands. “You know, I could never be this happy without you. You were there for me in my darkest hour. You were there for me, even when I didn’t know I needed you. I love you, Quinn.”

He stood and kissed me, running his hands in my hair. For a minute, I thought the presents were done and we were getting to the getting carried away part, but Quinn pulled back. “I have one more thing I want you to open tonight. Then we’re going to bed.”

“Okay.” I wasn’t arguing with that when my dick was so hard, pressed against my jeans.

He laughed maniacally and grabbed an envelope that had been tucked into the tree branches. “This is for you.”

“I didn’t even see it in there. Sneaky.”

“Yep. Open.” He put the envelope in my hands. It was a pristine white packet with my name embossed on the front.

“I recognize this stationery. This is the stuff Jax and I bought.” We’d decided that sometimes our clients might want to invite a special guest or two, or twenty, in a special way, depending on the occasion. I’d bought into Jax’s yacht company so I could help make those kinds of decisions. We worked incredibly well together, and I enjoyed the job as Chief Marketing Officer. Even when Jax had started calling me C-Moe for short. But I eyed the familiar envelope, wondering why Jax had given it to Quinn to use.

“Stop being suspicious and open it.”

“Fine.” I carefully opened the seal—it was worth saving—and pulled out a card. It was exactly what we’d bought them for. An invitation.

You are cordially invited to join Quinn Setzer, Esquire on the Fiesta Dream.

“Hey, this is the new boat. We don’t even get it until January.”

“I know. And we get one of the first runs. You and me. And a small crew. There are what, two staterooms for crew?”

The Fiesta Dream, as we’d named her, was now the smallest in our fleet of four. It was only a hundred feet but loaded with sweet quality and refinement. “Yes. Two. Nice. I like this idea.”

“We’ll go somewhere exotic and tropical for January. That’s kind of close to our anniversary, right? Or close enough, anyway.”

I pressed my lips together to keep from laughing. He was entirely too cute. Our anniversary. I didn’t know when we’d officially gotten together. We’d started seeing each other before the court date, but we moved in afterward in January, as he said.

“What?” he asked, catching on to my humor.

But I sighed. “Nothing. But I don’t want our anniversary to always be a guessing game of when it is and then marked by the court date. I think I’d like to pick a new anniversary.”

“Based on what?”

“Based on getting married.”

It was Quinn’s turn to laugh. But I was serious. Before I had a chance to argue, he pulled out a box that I hadn’t seen him hiding. “Glad you feel that way. Will you marry me, Royce? My pup? My Boone?”

“Yes.” I jumped up and threw my fist in the air. I finally had my life going in exactly the direction I wanted it to go in. All the pieces were in place, and I was going to enjoy it. If the court battle with my father taught me anything, it was to value every bit of happiness I had in my life, and Quinn gave me so much more than I ever thought I’d have. “Then we can make this our honeymoon.” I shook the card at him. “But we’ll have to move fast.”

“What do you want? A big thing? Small?”

“In between. Friends and family. Nothing fancy. But I do know an amazing cook who might be willing to cater on short notice.” I was talking about the wonderful cook we had on retainer for the yacht business.

“Sounds perfect.”

“We can get busy organizing it in the morning, Quinn.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah. First, I think I was promised some getting carried away time.”

Quinn jumped up and grabbed me in a fireman’s carry and swatted my ass. “You get all the carried away time you want, pup.”

The End – for now!
