As my friends walked away, understanding the need for privacy, I realized how lucky I was. The love of my life and my two best friends never had any issues. They blended and joined my world as if meant to be.

“Damn.”

It’s humbling to realize you are blessed.

Feeling grounded again, I realized my nightmare was truly an informative dream. I leaned against a tree without telling Rya I was there. I wanted to see her in her raw form. She and Sable, together, were free souls, running through tall grass. No saddle between the two. Only loving hearts and an unbreakable bond.

As their lights joined, I took the point of view Lu tried to teach me. Yes, Rya was hurting inside due to living an unfair life, but seeing her fight appear was brilliant. She was crying and even letting some screams sail to the heavens, but with every release, her light became brighter and more fantastic.

It was a miracle, but as she was carried across a field, mad as hell, the eagle inside her beamed to the point an explosion took place. It wasn’t for the naked eye to see, but this deity was gifted enough to witness the phenomenon.

And her horse? She felt it.

As magnificent as her loyal owner, Sable reared up then held the position. On her back, was a young woman, gallantly finding her purpose.

The morning sun shining behind the two only added to the glorious sight. The stunning black beauty with Rya and … her golden wings.

Feeling like the luckiest bastard alive, I smiled. Fucking beautiful.

As numerous bikes pulled up to the Titan clubhouse, neighbors rushed inside their homes. I wanted to tell them all that the cruel bikers were no longer going to be a menace to them, but I had Rya on the back of my Hog and wished to get this over with. After parking under the beach house on stilts, Rya and I got off the bike. Hand in hand, we quietly walked by the bikes, slowing as we approached a still occupied one.

Shame keeping his shoulders folded, the old man got off his bike, not saying anything. No longer wearing a cut, making him look odd, his dark sunglasses focused on the ground under his boots.

“Weatherman, you are not responsible for what happened to me. It was a plan I had to live out. If being around me means having too many memories in your face, I understand, but I would love to have a special friend in you.”

Looking toward the beach at the end of our road, he nodded. “I will always be here for you, kid. I mean that.” His voice was low and sad.

Not letting Rya go, I threw my right arm around his neck and hugged him. “Thank you, brother.”

His arms, that had wished for sons worth holding, held me tight.

When I released him, he reached out to touch Rya’s face. “His light, the one he snuck out to see so many times.”

Her light welcomed him, and she smiled. Diesel and I were wise to trust him.

Gesturing behind me, Weatherman quietly told me, “The place will be yours once his body turns up.”

I had no intention of taking money that was more his than mine. With regret for him soon losing another son, I was about to apologize when I thought, “Would you like to live here until we work it all out? Fix it up a little for a better return?”

I think he was a little lost. Everything—everyone he lived for—was now gone. “Actually, me and the guys would like that.”

This way he and the few Titans left would have a home.

I grabbed his shoulder. “Now I have someone to come back to.”

His old eyes lit up before he hid the excitement. “Yeah. Sounds good.”

After squeezing Weatherman’s shoulder, Rya and I went to look for Chubs and Roamer. Finding them under the house, looking pale and spooked, I asked, “Ready?”

Them sluggishly moving forward was their nonverbal answer. I could see they also wanted this over with.

Hand in hand, Rya and I made our way up the wooden stairs to the front door. We were given ample room. No one was hounding us.

As always, it wasn’t locked.

As I had always done with Tabi, I walked in first. I never knew what we were walking into and didn’t want her to be caught up in it. Seeing the kitchen straight ahead and the vacant living room to my right empty, I invited Rya inside.
