We were currently getting ready in separate rooms, as I wasn’t sure if we would ever get out of the apartment if we didn’t. I walked out of the spare bedroom to find Daniel patiently waiting for me in the front room. When I walked into the room and Daniel looked up, I was shocked at his reaction.

“Romeo, you look fucking gorgeous. Are you sure we can’t stay here tonight?”

I had to laugh. It wasn’t very often that I heard Daniel swear. He wasn’t posh or a snob, but he was in a higher class than myself, and it wasn’t usually done to hear them swear. But Daniel often slipped up, especially in the bedroom, and I loved hearing him speak dirty to me.

I walked over to Daniel, who was now in his tuxedo. He, of course, had gone for the standard option, and damn, did he look fine in it.

“You look pretty dashing yourself, handsome. However much I would love to spend the night in bed with you, I do have something special planned for you, so you will have to wait until later.” I pressed a kiss into his neck just under his ear and whispered. “Then you can show me just how much you liked the evening and me.”

I pulled away and saw a smirk come over his face.

“Perhaps it will beyoushowingme.”

What was he up to? He had no idea about where we were going or what I was planning. Did he have a plan of his own after I had mentioned he would need to wear a tux?

I shook the thought from my mind and took his hand in mine, pressing a kiss to it. “The car will be here in a minute. We should go downstairs and wait.”

“Lead the way,Romeo.”

As we drove up to the Royal Albert Hall in our chauffeured car, I watched as Daniel’s eyes lit up. He had mentioned that the Royal Ballet was putting on a production ofThe Nutcrackera few times and how much he wanted to go. I had spent weeks telling him that we would have to wait and see what happened with Daisy and Zach, knowing I had already booked the tickets and didn’t want him to book it as well. I had felt bad every time he mentioned it, seeing his face drop when I gave another reason why we couldn’t go.

He turned to me and spoke. “So, this is why you didn’t want me to book tickets.”

I gave him a smile. “I’m sorry for being so mean. However, I didn’t want to spoil the surprise. Do you realise how difficult it was coming up with all those excuses?”

He leaned over and gave me a chaste kiss on the lips. “Thank you, Romeo. You don’t realise how much this means to me. I know this isn’t your thing, but the fact that you are willing to give it a try for me tells me everything.”

Wait until he realises the real reason behind this evening.

I just hoped he still felt the same way by the end of it. We pulled up outside the VIP entrance, and he raised his eyebrows at me.

“I have arranged a special VIP evening for us both. I wasn’t sure if you had ever done this before, but I wanted to make tonight really special for you.”

The chauffeur got out of the car and opened the door next to Daniel, and we both got out. The door attendant greeted us as soon as we stepped onto the carpet.

“Good evening, sirs. Do you have your tickets, please?”

I pulled out our tickets and showed them to him.

“Thank you, sir. Would you like to follow me? We have your box all ready for you, complete with the food, wine, and champagne you ordered.”

I felt Daniel’s hand tighten on mine as we followed him into the building and up to our private box. We were greeted by an attendant at the door to our box.

“Mr White, Mr Cooper, it’s a pleasure to have you here this evening. My name is Geoffrey, and I will be looking after you this evening.”

We said our hellos and followed Geoffrey into the box. We were greeted with a room, luxuriously decorated with leather settees, a table full of hot and cold snacks, bottles of red and white wine…and, of course, champagne on ice. Through the curtains that were currently open, we could see the main auditorium and the spectacular view down to the stage.

“You have a little while before the first act starts if you would like to rest in here. Can I get either of you a glass of wine or champagne?”

We both settled for wine to start with. I didn’t want to mention that I was saving the champagne until later, so was pleased when Daniel chose not to have any. I was as nervous as anything as I sat down on the settee next to Daniel. I had checked my pocket numerous times to make sure I hadn’t forgotten the ring. I had everything planned out in my head, but now that I was here, I was wondering if it was the right thing to do.

I was pulled from my thoughts as Geoffrey spoke again.

“I will leave you to enjoy your evening. If you do need me, there is a button just over there and one at the front of the box. However, that one is switched off during the performance.”

We thanked Geoffrey, and he left the room, leaving us both alone. As soon as he was out of the room, Daniel placed his hand on the top of my leg, sending tingles through my body.

“Romeo, you don’t know how much I am fighting to keep my hands off of you right now. You walk out looking dashing in that tuxedo combination, then you get a chauffeur-driven car to bring us here, then all this. I really don’t know what to say. I know what I want to do, but that would be truly indecent, even in a private box.”
