A tear slid down my face, and I wiped it away angrily. I was sick of always crying.

I turned away from the mirror and looked at the dress laid out for me on the bed.

Roman was insisting I wear something formal for dinner tonight, so I obliged him. It was a beautiful, shimmery silver dress that looked absolutely stunning on the hanger in the closet.

I knew this would be a perfect dress to wear for whatever Roman was planning. Every night, they were always coming up with different games and activities for me to try.

I admit most of them were done in the nude and never in such a beautiful gown. I let out a wry grin, remembering the various activities we did. They really were the most perfect and sweetest pack ever.

I slipped on the dress and gasped as I saw a reflection of myself in the mirror.

The dress was absolute perfection, shimmering gently in the light. I looked like a goddamn fairy princess. For the first time, I could see why the pack was so obsessed with me.

The dress gently highlighted my curves while emphasizing my waistline. It draped all the way down to the floor with a beautiful extended train.

I felt like I was going to the red carpet and not to dinner.

I smiled at myself, checking my teeth for lipstick before leaving my room.

Roman had said to meet them downstairs, so I made my way over to the stairs slowly. I didn’t want to trip and ruin the stunning dress, so I moved as slowly as possible.

I reached the bottom and made my way over to the living room.

I gasped as I saw the archway decorated with white and silver balloons. I walked through a curtain of streamers and saw my pack.

I squealed with surprise and shock.

Roman, Chase, and Stone were all kneeling on one knee wearing impeccable black suits. In his hand, Roman held out a beautiful velvet box with a sparkling ring in the center.

Roman cleared his throat and began.

“My dearest Gabriella. With this ring, we promise to be your confidants, your lovers, and your alphas. Will you do us the greatest honor of joining us in this dance, not just for tonight but for all the nights to come? Will you be ours, not just in passion, but in a love that will grow and withstand the test of time?” He asked me solemnly, his heart in his eyes.

I wanted so desperately to say yes, to be selfish, and just enjoy this moment. But I knew that I could not do that to them. They deserved better.

That thought broke my heart, and I opened my mouth to say no.

Instead, I burst into tears, sobbing loudly into my hands.

Chapter 17

Roman

Istaredinshockas Gabriella burst into tears.

That wasn’t the reaction that I had expected. Chase shoved by me angrily, rushing to gather the omega up in his arms, and Stone quickly followed suit.

Chase glared at me with anger.

“I knew we should have waited until everything was perfect. This wasn’t good enough for her,” he shouted out to me.

I ignored him and sat in front of Gabriella, covering her small hands with mine. She let out a few more sobs before taking a deep, shuddering breath. She opened her eyes and looked at me with her blue gaze.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to cry like that. So embarrassing,” she said, dabbing at the corner of her eyes with the tissue Stone offered her.

I didn’t have the heart to tell her that her black mascara was running all down her cheeks. The little tissue wasn’t going to fix that.

Instead, I focused on the issue at hand. Her sadness had gone on long enough. It was time to step in.
