“So that’s all the reason for us to tell her now,” I say, my tone insistent. “Not to keep silent.”

Kylian continues in a whisper, “She was burrowing into my coat last night, and she’s wearing something that belongs to all of us. She might not know it yet, at least not consciously, but she’s drawn to us. We still can’t tell her.”

I frown. “We got her away from Lawrence, and we will protect her from him. She’ssafe.”

“She won’t believe us.” Kylian shakes his head for emphasis. “No way, no chance, and no how do I see her believing a word we say. Not now.”

Cian’s expression is thoughtful. “Keeping it from her isn’t going to be easy, but Ky is right, Rune. I know you think it’s best we tell her, and if she hadn’t been running from Lawrence with a bruise on her face, I’d agree. Think it all the way through. Our scent calls to hers, and if she learns it goes both ways…”

“She’ll know we’re scent-matched, realize we won’t want to let her go, and lose all trust in us. We promised to let her go.” It hits me where he’s going with this. I wish it hadn’t, but I get it. “What alpha would let their scent match go?” I breathe.

None. The answer is none because a scent match is akin to finding your soul mate.

Not akin. Itisfinding your soul mate. The odds are… astronomical.

Too rare to throw away.

Tossing your scent match away might happen among the wealthy families who prefer to match their omega daughters to wealthy alphas. Betas don’t have a strong enough scent to match with anyone, alpha, beta, or omega.

But for a pack of alphas to match with one omega…

Something like that is special. So special that if you’re lucky enough to find yours, you hold on fucking tight and don’t let them go.

I think through all the consequences of telling Everleigh we’re scent matches, and I don’t like where the thought takes me. She won’t be happy about it. Not with how close she was to throwing herself out of the car on our way home.

Would we find her trying to scale our garden walls with desperate tears tracking down her face?

“She won’t believe us if we said we’d honor our agreement. She’ll run. Lawrence will grab her and drag her back. Probably punish her.” Cian sighs. “Finding our scent match is our dream. For Everleigh to learn she’s scent-matched to three alphas after Lawrence abused her? It’s going to be her worst nightmare.”

That bruise on her jaw couldn’t have been her first with the way she flinched away from us. And the way she was trying to scale a hedge anyone would have realized they couldn’t climb? No, that wasn’t the first time Lawrence put his hands on her.

“So we’ll kill him,” Kylian adds. “Easy.”

“Kill who?” a soft voice says from behind us.

We whirl around.

Everleigh is standing in the doorway. Her long sleep-tousled white-blonde hair is falling around her face. My attention briefly snags on her creamy-skinned bare legs and her toes painted a pale pink color.

Adorable.

Our omega is fuckingadorablein the morning, especially when she’s wearing our clothes that are nearly drowning her.

And we’re supposed to just let hergo?

“Nothing.” I smile, dropping Cian’s and Kylian’s arms to move toward her.

She instantly retreats, beautiful mint-green eyes turning wary as she backs up.

Fast.

Maybe Kylian is right. Maybe Lawrence needs to die.

“You hungry, cher?” I smile as if I can’t see wariness creeping into an outright terror she’s fighting to hide as we approach her.

She glances at the front door, likely thinking about running, when Kylian snorts.

“If you’re not, you’re about to be when you see the spread Hali and Nancy laid out for us,” he says.
