I hadn’t believed he was the type to kiss a woman’s hair, least of all mine. Cian, maybe. Rune, definitely. But Kylian? A gesture like that is surprisingly sweet for a well-known playboy alpha.

“I’m not staying,” I remind him.

“That isn’t what I said,” he responds.

I glance at him. “You asked me to stay and be your omega.”

He stares at the bottom of the garden, his expression thoughtful, and then he lifts his arm from my shoulders. “Let’s go for a swim.”

“I don’t have—”

I’m suddenly underwater. The shock of the cold water on my bare legs and soaking through my thin T-shirt makes me gasp in surprise.

Kylian grips my hips and kicks us up to the surface of the water.

He’s grinning at me as I cough and splutter to get all the water out of my lungs.

“You…” I struggle to summon a response once I’ve finished clearing my airways. The water was a shock to the system after sitting under a hot sun, but my body is already adjusting to the cooler temperature.

I have no idea how Kylian is adjusting to it in sweatpants and a T-shirt.

He flashes straight white teeth at me as his fingers clasp my hips and he draws me toward him, both of us treading water. “Go on, laugh. I know you want to.”

I bite the inside of my cheek to snuff out my smile and glare at him instead. “Please tell me you didn’t shove me in the pool because you wanted to make me laugh?”

He cocks his head. “Did it not work?”

I study him some more, conscious if he hadn’t followed me out from the den, he’d have found me crying for the omegas who thought they’d be safe in a heat clinic and instead endured alphas preying upon them. Then I hug him. “You get a point for effort, but that’s it.”

“What’s one point worth?” He hauls me closer, extending the hug.

When his gaze dips to my lips, I know exactly what he wants it to be worth. “If I kiss you, you’ll be shoving me in the pool on a daily basis, wouldn’t you?”

He doesn’t respond.

“Kylian…”

He frames my jaw with one hand and slants his head. Enough I know exactly what’s coming. “I notice you’re not saying you don’t want to kiss me.”

“You’re an alpha.”

“But I’m an alpha who would never hurt you.” He lowers his head and his warm breath touches my lips. “Ever. So if you want to kiss me, that’s all right. No one else needs to know but me.”

“And Cian?” I prompt.

He nods.

“And Rune?”

“Him too.” His lips feather over mine.

“How do three alphas share one woman?” I ask him as I fight not to kiss him back.

“Easy. Would you like to see how we do it in here or in a bed upstairs?” His voice is husky, the heat in his eyes daring me to say yes.

He presses my back against the side of the pool. We must be in the shallower end now because my feet are barely touching the bottom.

I lift my hands to frame his jaw, not just wanting to touch him but needing to. These suppressants suck at their job because I’m burning up all over again. “You’re acting—all of you are acting—as if I’m your omega.”
