“Wow.” Yesterday trotted up to the seal. “Even I’m getting tingles, so you must be ready to—”

“What do I do?” She snapped. She did not want to talk about Yesterday’s tingles or her current discomfort.

Yesterday looked at her scornfully. “You fix the seal.”

“How?” She gritted her teeth to keep from groaning her need.

“Dunno.” Yesterday sniffed. “You’re Nephilim.” He jabbed his thumb at the seal. “Fix it.” His face twisted into a grimace. “Major tingles.”

Eddie’s muscles shook, and her insides felt liquified as she stood in front of the seal. She wanted to rub herself against it and bring herself relief. Jesus, she hoped Shade didn’t walk around feeling this every day. Or maybe she wanted that more than her next breath.

“Eddie!” Shade’s voice snapped through her reverie.

She was half convinced she’d conjured him up through sheer desire as she turned toward the door. “You’re here.” Her voice came out raspy and breathy. An invitation to play with her. A plea to put her out of her misery.

“I told you to wait in the cave.” Shade stalked closer, Xerxes on his heels.

“I couldn’t.” Eddie moaned as a fresh wave of need washed over her. “Wrath.”

“Master.” Cronus lowered himself to his belly and cowered. “Wrath came. We were no longer safe.”

“I felt him.” Eddie gasped as another onslaught hit her. “He was coming for me.”

“And here he is.” A tall, muscular form stood in the doorway. Wings streaked with red and burnished gold filaments framed a being that could only be Wrath.

Shade whirled, unfurling his wings as he did.

Wrath’s gaze flicked to Eddie. Clear blue eyes in a chiseled, angular face. The face of a fighter, all harsh lines and implacable purpose.

“You dare,” Shade roared, and a gleaming gold sword materialized in his hand.

“You were true to form, Yesterday.” Wrath glance at the imp. “I may let you keep your head.”

Eddie wanted to delve into that last comment, but a horde of demons crowded in the doorway behind Wrath. Huge, misshapen bodies carrying weapons and leering at Eddie and Shade.

And suddenly Eddie was angry. The red haze dropped over her vision, and she stalked Wrath. “You.” She bared her teeth at him. “I have had enough of you.”

Wrath blinked at her. An expression flickered across his face, too fast for her to catch. In her current temper, Eddie didn’t give a fuck. “You will fight me,” she bellowed.

“Eddie.” Shade stepped in front of her. “No!”

Cronus threw back his head and howled.

Power crackled and crashed in the air around Eddie.

“Magnificent,” Wrath whispered.

“This ends here.” Shade shifted her back and closed with Wrath. “No more.”

Wrath dragged his gaze away from Eddie and to Shade. Fury tightened his features as he drew his own weapon, a massive double axe. “So be it.”

“Stop them.” Xerxes flung himself between the two hell princes. The power barrage between them flattened his fur to his back and dragged his jowls away from his teeth. He implored Eddie with a look. “You must stop them before they destroy us all.”

Fury pounded through Eddie where there had been lust moments ago. She craved the feel of flesh and bones sundering beneath her fingers. With a battle cry, she leapt between Wrath and Lust. She threw up her hands, and the doors to the room slammed shut on Wrath’s demons. “You fight me.” This was her war. There stood her foe. “And your demons stay out of it.”

“Fight you?” Wrath’s eyebrow rose. “You are not my match, Nephilim.”

“Am I not?” Eddie felt like she could rip the columns from their bases and beat the shit out of him with them. She could crush the stone beneath her feet. “Try me.”
