“You sure? I don’t mind.”

“I’m sure you don’t,” I grit out, opening my arm wide hoping he’ll follow and get out of my sight. He does. I lean down and look across to my little wanna-be driver. “Out, Eleanna.”

“Please, Mark?” I’m surprised by her sweet tone, still smiling.

“Do I seem like I have the patience to teach you how to drive? Out.”

Her voice changes. “You teach me lots of things.”

“Eleanna.” I warn her. I am so on edge, and she doesn’t realize it. Or maybe she does and she just enjoys poking the bear that she married.

“Teach me this and you can teach me something else I’ve never done before.” She gazes at me from under her long dark lashes. This woman. My brain is hesitating, but my dick sure isn’t.

I duck down and smash myself in the passenger seat before she gets an eyeful of my growing excitement. I slam the door shut and she laughs again. Which makes me think of how happy she was just moments ago, when I happened upon the scene.

I narrow my eyes at her. “Did you have the same arrangement with Raul?”

Her smile vanishes. “What?”

“Was he going to teach you other things, Eleanna?”

She gets frustrated. “You’re unbelievable.”

Good. Now I’m not the only one about to explode. It’s only fair she suffers through this too.

“What’s your deal with him then?”

She frowns even more. “There’s no deal.”

I lean into her. “Why only him guarding you, him driving you? Do you have a crush on him?”

“What! He’s like fifty!”

“Eleanna. Answer the question.”

She shakes her head. “No! No, I do not have a crush on him or any kind of deal or arrangement, you psycho!”

“Then why only him?”

“Because I don’t trustsoldados!”She spits, upset beyond irritation with me.

I study her before responding. “Why?”

She rolls her eyes at me. “I just don’t. They’re all hot-headed thugs.”

I scoff. “That describes your whole family. And my security guys? What about them?”

“They’re all the same. I don’t like any of them.” She says softly. I’m about to press her to explain, but she shakes the conversation off of her shoulders, her red hair catching the light and my train of thought. “Now, come on. Let’s start ourlessons.”She smiles at me and raises her eyebrows.

She has no idea what she’s in for.

•••••

I had no idea what I was in for. This girl, this sweet, cautious little thing, is afraid to accelerate. Both of us have whiplash. Neither of us has any patience left. By the grace of God himself, we’ve made it around the block and back into the driveway. I think it took us an entire hour.

“I’m scared to try to put it in the garage.”

“You can do it, you’re already hardly moving.”
