And I appreciate the encouragement.”

“I know,” he smirked, but I frowned.

“You know what?”

“That you appreciated the motivation.”

“How?” a pout formed on my lips.

He kicked his legs off the couch and lifted himself off. “Well, someone didn’t stop grabbing me throughout the night.”

It took a minute for his words to sink, and when it did, I gasped. “I did not,” I said, though a nagging voice at the back of my head told me I might have accidentally stroked his lower member a few times while we slept.

He offered his hands to help me rise from the couch, but I swatted them away and turned my face away in embarrassment. He chuckled at my reaction. The man clearly had no idea of the emotions that brewed in my heart.

Last night was truly one of the best times in my life and one that I will always cherish. He wasn’t my favorite person, but he was slowly beginning to prove that he was, at least, a person.

I shuddered at the faint memory of how I saw stars when he touched and kissed me.

Everything felt meaningful, and I was slightly ashamed of how much I desired him.

He stretched his arms above his head as he headed to the stairs, and I admired the black-inked words tattooed across his back as I followed him behind.

When we entered the room, he went straight into the bathroom while I plopped down on the bed, snatching my phone from the bedside table to busy myself, while waiting for Igor. It was a good thing he handed it back to me after the wedding.

Suddenly, a sharp pain grappled my waist, causing me to jolt to an upright form. I quickly placed one hand on my waist, and the other on my head. Bile formed in my throat. I had a deep urge to empty all the substances in my stomach. Absentmindedly, my phone slipped from my hand, but I couldn’t care too much about it.

“Igor...” I called, my breath rushed and shaky.

Immediately, he rushed out of the bathroom and appeared by my side. His eyes searched mine and he removed my hand from my head, holding it firmly.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, concern laced in his voice.

“There’s a slight pain, and I feel nausea...”

“Okay,” he said but looked as clueless as the word itself. “Must be the pregnancy...

definitely the pregnancy. Where does it hurt? Tell me.”

“I’m not sure, I just want to...”

I didn't even get to finish the statement when I pulled my hand to my mouth as I skidded to the bathroom. He sprinted after me in fright. Fortunately, the unhealthy contents spilled out of

proportion, from my buccal into the sink. He just stood by me, supportively, while he rubbed my back and held my hair up. When I was sure I was done, I stood to my feet and rinsed my mouth effectively.

He led me back to the bedroom, but I paused in my tracks and turned around. “I guess I’ll just take a quick shower. I feel like shit right now.”

Igor nodded curtly and let me go.

I took a quick shower. When I finished, I entered the room, applied cream, and put on a loose shirt. Then, I stood in front of the mirror to comb my hair, while Igor silently watched me with arms crossed over his chest.

“Are you sure you’re okay?’

I smiled at him through the mirror. “I am. It’s morning sickness,” I glanced over my shoulder and back again to the mirror. “I think that’s what it’s called anyway. Don’t worry, I will get used to it.”

“We should go back to the doctor,” he started saying. “Make appointments, address the whole meal plan, exercise thing, or whatever it is we need to make sure the baby’s healthy...”

A notification sound popped out from my phone, interrupting him, but his silence granted permission to go through the notification.
