“What? No. Why would he do that, Dom?”

“You were a pawn. It isn’t so unheard of in our world, Eva. In this world women are used for one thing and you know that. I shouldn’t have to explain to you why he’d do anything he does!” Anger is something I’ve known growing up who I was, but this? My father was never like this.

“Where are we going, Dom?”

“Las Vegas.”

My questions are cut off when he pulls away from me and turns walking from the closet. His dream. He wanted to go to Las Vegas and now we are. Something in my chest tightens. He’s letting me in on his dream. My heart swells as I grab the bags and head back into the bedroom. Dom is pulling his suit jacket on and when he turns his head to look at me, my heart melts.

“What?” he asks huskily.

“Nothing,” I shake my head and carry the bag over, setting it on the bed. Dom moves around and finishes gathering his things before grabbing my bag and heading for the door. I follow closely behind him and down the steps. When we’re out the front door and SUV awaits us. Quickly, Dom passes off the bags and ushers me inside.

The ride isn’t a pleasant one. Neither of us speak and that’s fine with me. My mind is running all over the place and I can’t make it stop. Talking to Dom right now would only make it worse.

I don’t say a word as we climb out of the car and walk over to what I assume to be his private plane. Nothing in this world surprises me anymore. Dom isn’t the only one that has a plane, my father has one and I assume all the others probably do too. I step onto the plane and find a seat without looking up at Dom. That is until the scantily dressed woman in a uniform strolls her ass toward him. My eyes flick to her and the way she runs her hand down his arm as she speaks to him. I raise an eyebrow but remain quiet as I take in their interaction.

“Excuse me? You’re not alone on this flight,” I snap catching Dom’s attention. He turns his head and our eyes lock, something dancing in his. Then it all hits me. Jesus. How could I be so stupid? He’s slept with her! I quickly unbuckle my seatbelt and climb from my seat headed for the door when he stops me. He blocks my exit and I give him a shove.

“You brought one of your whores on the same flight? I thought we had a deal?” I scream in his face, still shoving at him. I want off this plane. Fuck this. Fuck him.

“That’s enough,” he growls but I shove him once more for good measure. In the blink of an eye, Dom has me around the waist, shoving me back until I hit the other side of the plane. My body thumps off the wall, his eyes wild and feral.

“Did I fuck her? Yes, it was a long time ago, Eva. I gave you my word and I don’t break my promises.” His lips are close enough to mine that I could kiss him, but I won’t.

“And yet here she is. You told me no more whores, Dominic!”

“Excuse me? I’m not a whore!” The girl snaps in return. I turn my head and raise an eyebrow ready to challenge her on that.

“Are you sure about that?” She steps toward me, but Dom moves his body to block her path. His eyes are still on mine and it unnerves me to a point.

“I fucked her once. Once, Eva! That was it and it was years ago. You want her off the flight? She’s off!” His words slam into me and I watch as he turns to her and dismisses her with the wave of his hand. She isn’t happy, but she doesn’t fight him either.

The flight wasn’t long, but sitting with an angry Eva made it longer. I didn’t think my past would affect her, but clearly it did. I can’t help the women I’ve fucked in the past and I shouldn’t have to explain them either. Never the less, Gwen is gone and things are quiet.

The limo ride to the house was just as silent, but I heard the gasp when she saw the gates open. No one knows that I own this place. No one knows that it’s here, but people I trust and my father isn’t one of them. I let out a deep sigh when the doors are opened and I climb out. I sent Vincent and my team ahead of us to make sure the place was cleared long before I brought Eva here. There was no way in hell that I was going to let her into a unsecure location.

“I need to head back out to a meeting. The house is secure. You can go anywhere you’d like inside,” I tell her as I help her out of the car. She looks up at me with a sadness in her eyes when I grab her face in my hands and press my lips to hers.

“We just got here,” she says softly. I nod my head.

“I know that, but this important. There’s another syndicate here and I need to make sure we are still in good standings,” I say. Eva nods as if she understands. I walk her to the door when Roni opens it. He smiles and nods at her, somewhat reassuring her that she will be fine here without me.

“I’ll be back soon.” With a quick nod, she pulls her hand free from mine and walks inside as Vincent comes out.

“You ready to meet Rico?” I nod once.

“As ready as I’ll ever be. I don’t plan on going back to Chicago until it’s time to put a bullet in my father’s head.”

“Does she know that?” He asks nodding over his shoulder as we walk back to the limo.

“Not yet. She had a small issue on the plane with Gwen so I figured I’d wait until we were here to tell her that part,” I explain.

“With Gwen? What happened with Gwen?” He asks as we climb into the limo and close the door.
