"I'll consider your offer," she replied plainly. "Have a good day, Maxwell."

"Thank you," he said before hanging up.

He hadn't gained any charm since she left. In fact, she could tell that he'd gotten even grumpier than when she was there.

April walked over to the couch and sat down. She held her phone tightly in her hand, wondering if she should take the offer.

On one hand, she could use the extra money. On the other hand, she didn't want to go back to that toxic environment. She loved her life here, the one she was building anyway.

The offer was tempting, but she wasn't sure if she wanted to go back to the law firm. Not after what had happened with Maxwell. It would mean leaving the bed and breakfast, the place where she finally felt like she belonged.

But the thought of having more financial stability was tempting, especially with all the problems going on in her life here.

April sighed and put her phone down. She wasn't sure what to do. She needed to think about it, but she didn't want to stay inside anymore.

Grabbing a light jacket, she stepped out of the door. The air was cool and salty from the ocean.

Careful of her step, she walked down the stairs to her private beach area, looking out over the waves. It was a typical fall day, windy and cloudy.

As soon as April stepped onto the beach, she was overcome by a sense of calm. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore filled her ears and gave her some peace of mind. She walked along the sand, letting the cool ocean breeze blow through her hair.

The waves crashed against the shoreline, creating a soothing sound that filled April's ears as her feet sunk into the sand with each step.

The sun sparkled off the surface of the water. As she looked out over the ocean, she felt just how vast and endless the sea truly was. Seagulls down the shoreline began to squawk.

It was truly one of the most beautiful days she'd seen.

As April continued walking, she felt a sense of clarity wash over her. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, letting the salty air fill her lungs.

And that's when she heard the distant thunder. Within seconds, water began to fall from the sky. Rain poured down her face onto her shoulders. Her clothes were soaked in minutes of walking back towards the house.

She couldn't even walk outside to get some clarity on her situation. Even the weather didn't want her to win.

The only thing she was thankful for was the fact that the rain washed away her gentle tears.

April rushed inside the house and grabbed a beach towel to dry off. When April was finally dry, she sat on the couch and thought about what would happen if she left all of this behind.

The thought of leaving the bed and breakfast made her heart sink. She had worked so hard to make it a place that felt like home.

But then there was the money. She could use that money to help with some of her financial struggles. It would certainly make life easier for her and those around her.

The thought of leaving her newfound home filled her with a pang of sadness. She had worked so hard to create the life here that she had now.

April knew that this would be a difficult decision. None of it made any sense. Either way, she felt like she was making a mistake.

Suddenly, her phone began to ring. "What now?" she said aloud. But it was Georgia's name that flashed across the screen.

April smiled and answered the call. "Hi honey," she said warmly.

Her daughter's voice sounded so far away, but it was filled with love. "Hey, mom. How's it going?"

"It's fine. What's up? Did something happen?" For a moment, April wondered if Georgia was calling about the tuition. She wasn't ready to come up with the missing few thousand dollars yet.

April knew she would be able to cover it, but it would take some time. She just didn't want Georgia to know that she was struggling. That was something her daughter should never have to worry about.

Georgia chuckled. "Can't a daughter call her mom? Just to talk?"

She felt a wave of relief wash over her as she heard her daughter's laughter through the phone line. She knew that this conversation was exactly what she needed right now.
